Just came across this; haven’t seen any other posts.
Captain Tom Moore, 99 year old WWII veteran, recently had a hip replacement and has been doing rounds of his garden as therapy. His daughter suggested he walk daily and use it to encourage people to make donations to the NHS for COVID. They thought they might raise £1,000 or so.
Donations have topped at least £20 million. (Different estimates in the following stories.)
On the day he made his 100th garden lap, there was a guard of honour from the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
