A few nights ago I ground up some dank nugs and put it onto this little tray I use. I smoked a few bowls and then forgot about it. It’s been exposed to the air and the sunlight (during the few hours when direct sunlight peeks through that window each day) for about 72 hours. Is it wasted now?
No. 72 hours is not much time. It’s just dryer now. Depending on how you consume it you may not notice any difference.
Thank you kindly @TriPolar !!
There’s really only one way to know for sure…
Please do report back once you’ve imbibed.
The air exposure isn’t an issue for cannabinoids. But it will degrade terpenes, so you’ll lose some aroma.
The sun exposure is potentially an issue because UV degrades cannabinoids. It depends on how long it was exposed, whether your window has any UV blocking, etc. The material probably lost some potency at the surface, but the interior is probably fine. Be more careful in the future.
OK, Dad.
Now would be a good time to introduce you to Boveda. Keep your buds in an airtight container with a 62% Boveda pack and it will ensure that your bud is kept at the correct humidity. You can take buds out a bit before you grind them, to dry them out a bit, and you can put dried cannabis in with the pack to ‘rejuvenate’ it.
Finished it off last night, it was perfectly fine. This is the point where I’d say something clever or snarky but it’s Monday morning and my RAM isn’t fully functional yet.
