Strange - because I think I can see this building in the photo not too far north-east of the center of the image. And the Salim Singh ki Haveli is located in Jaisalmer, not Jodhpur.
But yes, it was the blue colour on some of the houses that spurred my original guess.
It was a theatre of some sort, and the background of the city looked very Central/Eastern European. On a hunch, I googled “theatre ruins bulgaria.” And there it was.
DAMN that was fast! I should have gone with my first instinct and posted a street scene. But I wanted to make it at least possible for someone who hadn’t been there to figure it out.
That took you all of 6 minutes, pulykamell. Impressive. It was taken from outside the old city walls facing south towards the citadel (IIRC). I didn’t even get to post my 2nd shot that should have made everything a bit easier. Bah. I’ll do it anyway: http://tinyurl.com/38crl5z
The architectural style looks very Mediterranean to me, and I’m getting a strong Italian vibe in particular - the paving stones, the columns, the Romanesque campanile… can’t seem to find that exact belfry on Google images though.
Okay, if any of you can get this one without google, I will be very impressed. The town is small and not particularly noteworthy, but there is a…you know, minor identifying landmark.
I’ve been there myself, so those walls of the Ark (and the very light color of the houses) were a giveaway. I wasn’t completely sure from that angle, though.
