Guess the City

Yours is easily TinEye-able, unfortunately. It really needs to be an original image to defeat cheats like me.

Well, you’re not supposed to use TinEye, cheaty-pants!

I’m thinking Latin America. Am I warm?

Okay, but how many of you are willing to live on the edge and make a guess without even opening the image?

Ummm… Oostburg, Wisconsin?

Sure, but Googling’s cheating too then, I would have thought.

Here’s another city that I took a picture of. Don’t Tineye it unless you are willing to have it spoiled. This should be easier than my first: the city does have distinctive shape, which is only partly concealed by clouds.

That is surely (without any cheating) Chicago, with the Sears Tower.

Very good!

I only got one of these so far, and it was the easy one. I suck at this. You just wait til I dig up some vacation photos, then you’ll all be scracthing your heads!

Yes!

Tricky one, but there is at least one thing in the picture that may help.

I can’t see the “one thing”, but I think it might be

Timbuktu

Or at least that part of the world?

[Spoiler’s] not that big, I don’t think. I’m thinking it’s more likely on the north side of the desert. Doesn’t look like Bamako. I think the vantage point from which the picture is taken is the clue.

If you look at the hi res version of the photo, you can see that there are a couple signs in English. I…really don’t know what the heck I’m looking at. I don’t see anything that looks like a house of worship, which I find I use to help pin things down.

Another pic from my challenge city. This is one I actually took, so it is not TinEye-able, but this should make it easy for the clever Dopers.

I’m not 100% sure, but that’s obviously a Botero, so I’m going to go with Medellin, Columbia.

This is what I was talking about when I said that my own pictures made it too easy - they all seemed to contain works by Botero, which are all over the place in Medellin. Good work, sir.

Apparently in Medellin, the women come with price tags on them!

Jodhpur? It could have been taken just before the annual painting of the houses.

I was wrong - but it was quite close. I believe that the picture was taken in

Jaisalmer and that the detail referred to is the Salim Singh ki Haveli

Panurge, you were right the first time, it is Jodhpur. The ‘thing’ in the picture that I thought would help was the distinctive blue shade of some walls and objects. It’s normally much more apparent in photos of Jodhpur, which is known as ‘The Blue City’.
