Guess what I just got?

No, it’s not _____ number of posts…

I bought a new car–red Saturn SL1. It’s so nice to have a car again. I got some nice goodies this time (power windows, power locks, cruise control, a CD player) and the salesman threw in free pinstriping, paint sealant and fabric protection (which is stuff I wouldn’t have gotten if I had to pay for them).

Cool! I just got one last month (black/silver, kind of like graphite)! Only I didn’t get the electic windows and stuff. As of late I’ve developed an irrational notion that I’m going to drive my car into a lake and with non-power windows, I’ll have a better chance for escape. But I digress, how do you like the new ride? The new car smell is only just starting to fade, so you’ve got a few weeks to enjoy it!! YAY!

What’re you gonna name it?

I just bought a one-owner used car in showroom-new condition inside, only minor paint blemishes outside, with 13,200 miles on the odometer…

It’s a 1971 model. Chevy Nova 4-door. That’s right, thirteen thousand, two hundred original miles.

Oh, and Kat: Good for you.

A little smug, aren’t we Gunny?
Kat – congrats, sounds cool. I’ll second SPOOFE – whatcha namin’ it?

Sorry for the hijack, but…

Gunny, you gonna drop a big block in there?

It drives very nice–even going over railroad tracks.

I don’t know yet what it’s name is–I’ve only had it for a day; I don’t even know yet whether it’s a him or a her. Any suggestions?

Well, i lived in a van for a while, it was bright orange and wouldnt go anywhere, but i had it pretty decked out inside.

My friends named it Fat Freddy the Shaggin’ Wagon

I was hoping for something like “ImmoBill” (as i said, it wouldnt go anywhere)

Hope that’s of some help

Sneak up behind it and yank it’s trousers down. That should give you some indication.

If you need suggestions for a name, I suggest “Belmont”. That sounds like a good name.

Also, I’ve always planned on calling my first car, no matter what it is, Cecil I.

Mine just went over 90,000 miles and will be off to the the “retailer” soon for its well-baby check.

90,000 miles, $15.00 total repair bill. Yay Saturn!

You know, Saturns are actually a GM division that uses the unibody structure from the Opel division of GM, which is in Europe. Good looking, nice handling, and well built.

Now if they’d just get rid of the upswept, quasi-rectangular, fender-avoiding headlights, they’d be much more attractive.

kat- sounds nice. Can I take it for a spin sometime?

Nobody drives this baby but me. blocks Great Philosopher’s path

I don’t think “Belmont” would work, Spoofe. And I don’t think cars have genitalia that parallel that of humans.

I have a '97 SL2 I got this summer, dark blue, very pretty. I LOVE my car. Congrats!

Besides that she’s a lovely car (she has a name but only I know it) she’s also the first one I bought entirely by myself; did all the talking, got the loan, didn’t have to borrow my grandma’s credit or anything. I guess I really am a grownup now.

The only problem I have is that I have to drive across town to get my free oil changes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Saturns kick ass. Even if I can’t remember which model I have.

And, I always thought that -all- cars were female.

But, whatever, mine’s named Bessie. Like every other car in my family. I didn’t even have a choice. My mom named it before we even got the car off the lot.

You’re just not looking hard enough.

Or maybe you’re just not drunk enough.

Nah, I’ll keep the 307cid SBC V8 (for now…). Might throw a 4bbl at it, though.

You wimps with your fuel injection, power steering, and power disc brakes… :stuck_out_tongue:
[sub]I wonder if a GM 502 crate motor would fit…[/sub]

Oops, forgot the pictures.

My first car is going to be named Shaggin’ Wagon II, in honour of the late Shaggin’ Wagon. It died earlier this winter.
