Guess what? I'm a Nazi!

2 cents here.

A night in Chicago with 3 friends produced this exchange. (remember, I’m 6’4’, white with blue eyes and a buzz cut for the summer.)

Standing outside a downtown club for a cab, I was seperated from the herd, around the corner for “releif”. 2 guys (random, I’m not getting into race/ethnicity) said “Shit, another Nazi.”

Being Catholic, I promptly get my friends over to assist and gave the local ER a little business that night. people who are “enlightened” somehow forget that Catholics were as hated as Jews and Gypsies.

In hindsight, damn glad I did it and will do it again as long as I can. Fuck the Nazi’s, neo-Nazi’s or whatever they call themselves

People think I’m a geek and know about computers because I talk about video games and have glasses and am devoid of any signs of proper hygeine. But no geek test has placed me higher than 35%.

“I’m not a nerd. Nerds are smart.”

I’m just a spazz.

At some point in my freshman year of high school, a girl decided that my new name was “Bambi.” Now “Bambi” implies, at least to me, some sort of popular, beautiful, reasonably well-to-do, and possibly ditzy chick. I, on the other hand, was totally awkward, uncool, poor, and geeky, largely ignored by the rest of my class unless they were trying to cheat off my tests. However, because I had light hair and blue eyes, I was “Bambi” until I finally got out of gym class for good. Very strange.

I really couldn’t give a fuck about the goth/Wiccan stuff. My only complaint, Zabali_Clawbane, is your excessive use of the {{{username}}} thing, and the hugs thing. You do it in every thread I’ve seen you post in.

Note your own reaction. You state that you don’t want a hug from me, even though I obviously didn’t offer one, and you say that you don’t want hug me, even though I didn’t ask you to.

Get over the hug thing. Learn a new trick.

I have one of those “You look native” kinda faces it seems. Here in NZ I am often asked if I am Maori, but when travelling I was told I was Greek, Italian, Eygptian, Israeli and Yugoslavian, by locals in those countries.

For the record I’m mostly of English descent with a smattering of Native American from a wayward grandmother.

And cause was the highlight of my day today, someone at work guessed that I was in my late 20’s (yayyyyyy)…I’m 37 this year.

Very interersting response there Desmostylus!

Example one.
Example two.
Please note, there are two weeks and 17 posts in between those two hugs, and the one in this post. Please forgive my excessivesness. Exasperated expression

The particular configuration you chose for your punctuation in the above quote is used by more than one poster to signify a hug. Please forgive my misinterpretation. I can see now that you just aren’t the type to hug. My mistake, I’m sure. Please accept my apologies. I will strive not to offend you that way again by making the same mistake.

It seems you need to “cleanse your system”. Go to the bathroom, sit on the commode, and eliminate all the build up in your system. Really, it might help your attitude. Healthy body/healthy mind and all you know. somber smile with a hint of humor (Yes, I just tweaked your nose.)

I can think of no other reason as to why you would take offense to the way I choose to express support for fellow Dopers. It’s my business how I do this, NOT yours! At least I show that I care, that I empathize with the person. That in the small way available to me in this format, I wish them well.

Can you say the same? Can you say that most of your posts are supportive and non negative? I could imply that your only “trick” is making negative statements, and seeing the crappy side of life. Just because you tend to express youself negatively, and pessimistically, does not mean that everyone else has to follow suit. I choose to be upbeat and offer support as often as I can. That’s my right. I respect your right to be negative, you respect mine to be upbeat/supportive.

Put me on your ignore list if you can’t stand my non negativity! Otherwise, shut up about it. Why do you even bother to read threads/posts where people are obviously going to offer support and sympathy, if you can’t stand the positivity? I ask this question in gentle puzzlement, and in all honesty. Why not take the time to address and answer it?

You know, I originally posted a smart-assed comment, but when I saw this:

I reply with this:

And so my sarcastic statement with totally inclusive sarcastic rolleyes smiley is taken out of context and everyone thinks I’m an awful person.

I’m not going to apologize because I have nothing to apologize for. I was replying to j_kat’s being an ass by making fun of what he said.

If none of you can grasp that MORE THAN ONE religion has healing processes in which the healer visualizes the aura, than you are not nearly as educated as you think you are. Look at Reiki healing for one. Not to mention Pranic healing practices from India, or similar practices in China and Japan. I’m sure other pagans like Lezlers can verify this statement and provide more religions that practice aura visualazation in healing etc. too.

[quote]

Just a couple of nitpicks on religious generalizing. Way too many people who have only a vague knowledge of Asian spiritual traditions (note the plural) think that that they must necessarily be analogous to Western traditions, and that just isn’t so. Take this business with auras. Trying to tie that in with the Chineseconcept of qi (ki in Japanese) is simply false. Qigong is an ancient tradition that does not involve seeing any kind of colors or auras.

And gain, what’s with capitalizing “shaman”? There is no such religion as Shamanic. Shamanism is also not a catch-all word meant to describe the rituals and beliefs of animistic cultures. Shamans are intermediaries between the material and spiritual realms who embark on ecstatic trances to gain power, perform healings, seek wisdom, and so forth. And just as an FYI, there are many, many different shamic traditons, so you should strive for specificity.

Oh, and Kirlian photography is a crock.

In addition,

If you mean a buildup of poop, then that’s sound advice; constipation really can sour the disposition. If you mean the New Age “build up of toxins,” that has no basis in medical fact.

Anyway, if you are going to look conventionally unconventional in Kansas (nothing is more boring than some cookie-cutter “Goth” who thinks she’s unique), then you are going to have to expect that you will be stared at. You can’t dress in a style that says, “Look At Me!” and then complain because people look at you.

Two hugs? Was “Mad Cow Disease” named in your honor?

Crazy bitch.

dude, that’s way over the line and completely unjustified. So zabali likes to {{hug}} people? So what? It harms nobody and may make some people feel better.

I’m all for debunking auras, Kirlian photography and other assorted New Age nonsense, but those are just ideas. There’s no need to be rude to Zabali when she has not yet been rude to you. Of course, if she is, then the gloves are off and the flame is on.

I already said, gobear, that I didn’t care about anything other than the hugging of strangers.

I’m not being harmed in any way at all by Zabali_Clawbane. I’m being mildly irritated.

First of all I offer sincere apologies to Gorgon Heap for misconstruing what you meant. Thank you for sticking up for me. I am sorry. Truce?

Secondly,** gobear** I am an eclectic Pagan. Celtic Shaman comes the closest to describing what I practice. I follow the Wiccan Rede, and Sabbats/Esbats etc. but I do indeed practice shamanism. Yes, I do “journey”. I am not “New Age”.

I know that Kirlean photography does not depict the aura, I remembered that much. I did say that it purports to depict it. Thank you for explaining what it does depict, it’s been years since I’d read about it.

The pictures are still pretty cool. I’d like some prints of them, along with some prints by that guy that “paints with lightening”. I don’t remember what contraption he uses to make the paintings, but it arcs electricity across a plate that has paint on it. Very interesting effects created too.

I did indeed mean that Desmostylus needed to take an immense crap because I theorized it was souring his disposition.

Why do you feel I am a “cookie cutter” goth? I don’t wear make-up every day, nor do I have the “glamorous” accesories that are sold in places like “Hot Topic”. I simply wear all black almost every single day, with either sturdy thick soled shoes, or work boots. Sometimes I do put on make-up, and often it is in the “gothic” style, but not usually the current “trend” in goth. I simply make my face pale with a bit of talc, emphasize my cat eyes, and put on either burgundy, or black lipstick. I don’t put colored goop in my hair, nor do I wear glitter. I go for the “classic” goth look that never “goes out of style”. Thank you for speaking up for me.
Desmostylus I don’t want to hijack this thread any further, so I’ll see you here! Desmostylus, you went too far! I’m exposing your rotten heart!

Particle man, Particle Man, doing the things a particle can.
What’s he like? It’s not important.
Particle Man.

My SO really doesn’t like it when I play my TMBG CD.

Zabali, you just got me in trouble.

Err…OP…well, I don’t get much trouble based on the way I look. I mostly get looks for my accent, when I’m up North, though it has been mentioned by other Southerners on occasion.

Fortunately, I have a soft, coastline accent, so usually I get super compliments on my voice. If I get negative feedback, it’s usually someone who thinks badly of all Southerners.

~J

Eh? You only have one?

Apparently I’m one of those who come across as an “innocent little thing.” I’m average height for a woman, mid 20s, blonde hair, blue eyes, average size and all that. I’m soft-spoken and generally fairly pleasant and well-meaning.

So basically, this means that people are absolutely shocked when they hear me swear, and take it as a great achievement that they’ve gotten me to swear (and I really don’t do it that infrequently).

Also, they are shocked if they hear anything about my sex life. They assume that because I look so innocent and young (I’ve been asked by older people if I’m 21 - yes, quite), then obviously I don’t have sex or make out with guys, even having, as I do, a long-term boyfriend.

I’m blonde, blue-eyed and possess a Southern accent, so I get a lot of the “We’re both white, so I feel free to crack jokes about niggers, spics, and kikes in front of you!” crap. I’ve made it very clear to everyone I know that if they ever say anything like that in front of me or where I can hear, that they’re not welcome within my vision or in my home.

I will say one thing – it’s amazing how racist Yankees become when they go “down South”, as though they’ve been penting up all these hateful thoughts for years until they go someplace they think they can get away with them.

I’m thin and rather spindly-looking, and I get tired of this idea people have of me being delicate or weak. I’m NOT a little girl, I’m very hardly innocent, I WON’T fall apart if an unkind word is said to me, I’ve lived in the Real World and I hold no illusions about it. People think I’m breakable and naive and helpless, and I’m sick of it. One of my very best friends in the world, a marvelous lady, I love her to death, once told me: “When I first met you, I thought Lord, I’m gonna have to fight for this girl, she can’t possibly take care of herself. But now I know better.”

I’m not weak. I’m not delicate. I’m not innocent. I’m not even very nice. The world needs to get used to it.
