No, honey, Fandango.
Oooohhhhhhhh…
Craziness.
“No Online Ticketing Available for This Theater” ::
Also, I hate that commercial for the baby LeapPad, where the mom is like “What does “M” say?” and the baby says “Mama!” and she gets all misty-eyed.
No, stupid kid! “Mama begins with “M””! The letter doesn’t make the sound “Mama”!
Yeah, I mentally tossed around some jokes about hearing that the buffet gets really monotonous around the middle of December but nothing really clicked.
Pyrex on a burner - tsk tsk tsk. A certain person I’m married to did that. So did my daughter’s roomie. I thought everyone knew not to do that. Obviously not. Still - good story!
My sweetie and I went there a buncha years ago - I thought it was great! You should really enjoy it, as long as you’re not claustrophobic or anything.
Welcome to the new Cool Kids! Remember all you MMPers need to kiss up to me so when I decide which of my ceramic oeuvres to bestow upon a lucky MMPer or two. I can’t guarantee that bribery will influence me, but I’m not above accepting tokens of esteem. OK, I’ll actually be pulling names out of a hat, but I’m still not above accepting bribes.
You do realize you are supposed to add the words “in bed” to every fortune cookie fortune, right?
So, the love of your life is right in front of your eyes…in bed.
Back from my second viewing of HP&GOF. I like it better now. I am adjusting to Gambon as Dumbledore. Anyway, a great way to spend an afternoon.
I thought of something else re: Thanksgiving–it’s the last one I’ll have to spend with husband’s crazy family. Yay! Suddenly, I am much happier about the whole thing.
Still have no card table, though. Asked my neighbor with whom I barter cans o’ soup/soy sauce and other household essentials, but no go–they need theirs. I tried to talk her into turkey dinner, Japanese style, but she’s smarter than she looks. (rats, foiled again!).
Hullo to all newbies here–I am an old newbie, with an MMP under me belt. I feel I should have some sort of badge or at least something to show for it. All I got was a nervous tic. Just kidding.
Philosophical thought for the day: shouldn’t we be giving thanks every day? What is this once a year thing, anyway? Oh-and IMO, you can give thanks to whomever you want. I want to thank the Academy…
Keep forgetting! I am also working on Friday. But then I work on Christmas as well.
Can’t someone tell those sick peoples to stay home on a holiday?
Jeesh.
I have a normal 5 day work week, 'cause I work for The Great Sata… uh I mean Wal-Mart. We are going over the river and through the woods, to Gramma’s house. Turkey and all the trimmings, yum. I got a new cake recipe today. You take one box of cake mix, add one can of pie filling, and bake according to cake directions. Even I can’t screw that up!
We also have a program and feast at my youngest daughter’s room at school. She is going to be an Indian! She is nagging me to write her name, so here it goes: Goose Girl. Okay, that’s not her real name, but it will have to do.
I don’t get to go shopping on Black Friday because I am terminally broke, oh well, I didn’t need that stuff anyway.
That’s all I’ve got. Happy Turkey Day, Y’all!
ivylass, you gotta do this MMP style, as originated by swampy:
The love of your life is right in front of your eyes
<snerk> IN BED! <snerk>
Oh yeah, I’ve got a short work week too. We’ll get a freebie hour off on Weds, so I’ll be outta there at 1. And I’m using my time off award to take Friday off. So I’ve got tomorrow, and a short Weds. And my baby will be here on Weds! With her bf… we meet the new man in her life this week.
Dinner tonight was ham steak baked with a glaze of spiced peach jam that was given to us by the one and only Cartooniverse - and it was yum! I also made cabbage with onions, plus brussels sprouts for my sweetie, and sweet 'taters for me. It was a goooooood dinner. Then we cleaned up the crap on the bed in the red room, so now both guest rooms are ready for the kids.
It’s been raining all day and it’s supposed to continue into tomorrow. We really need the rain, but it sure makes it feel colder and more miserable. If I wasn’t so tired, I’d make a fire. Maybe tomorrow…
Yeah, no pressure on The Perfect Boyfriend or anything, ya know…
This boyfriend is employed and he drives - he’s already more perfect than the last one!
Glad Taters mentioned that picunurse had checked in; I was starting to worry (it’s one of my many talents). Here’s her post since she said she’d be reading, but might not post….
Puggy, that’s not a turkey, it’s … Beef Wellington! Funny OP. I’ve never put Pyrex on a stovetop, but I periodically risk the life of my 30-ish-year-old Corningware casserole. I put it on a simmer ring (or whatever those things are called), so it’s relatively safe.
I decided that I needed to use up the broccoli I bought last week, so I made broccoli-cheese soup. It was pretty much leftovers soup: broccoli, a little onion (leftover from taco dip) and garlic. Added half & half left from my favorite chicken soup and cheddar cheese left over from the taco dip. Also added some chicken broth (which is now left over for the stuffing I’ll be making on Wednesday). Soup came out yum. Although extremely thick.
I saw HP&GoF late Friday afternoon. I liked it, although I think I liked PoA better. I’ll have to see it again to be sure.
I will be my department on Friday. (16 of us and I’m the only one who’ll be around.)
My plans are to clean, so hopefully there won’t be anyone around to interrupt.
Welcome new people! We used to have a chandelier that we gave to newbies, but Cartooniverse actually took it one day and we haven’t had any door prizes since then.
Where’s Ashes? Seems like it’s been ages since she checked in? (Or maybe I just have a bad memory…)
Happy Birthday tomorrow, donkeybear!

I’ll be working both Thursday and Friday. My wife has promised to save me a plate of dressing and possibly even some turkey if she gets to it quickly enough. I don’t hold out much hope for more than that.
-Belz (who doesn’t post much, but still reads the MMP to keep up on things)
Way back when I was young enough to look like I was too young to buy beer, that was a “cobbler” - usually, the cake mix and pie filling were mixed together in a dutch oven and baked on a campfire. Think it also involved a stick of butter melted or mashed in to make it possible to remove the stuff from the pot once it was done.
Good job Puggy
I have to get off in about 2 minutes, so I’ll get straight to my hijack:
Our little shop has a suspended ceiling in the front, or showroom, and up above that about 5 feet is the original, lathe-and-plaster ceiling. Many times when I was in the shop alone I could hear what sounded like rats running around on top of the suspended ceiling, only it wasn’t rats, it was little pieces of plaster falling off of the old ceiling onto the tops of the false ceiling. Unfortunately, if the pieces of plaster were big enough, they would fall through the suspended ceiling tiles and shatter on the floor, filling the shop with plaster chips and dust. This has happened twice in the 11 months we’ve rented this place. So Saturday after closing, Wifey and I moved everything out of the front room that we could and tarped and covered everything else. Sunday morning at 8:30 am I started to knock the old ceiling down with a lawn edging tool (surprisingly useful for this sort of thing), whil standing on a 7 foot ladder. About 9:00 am our landlord showed up with his ladder, and we both scraped, pryed, and whacked the old ceiling until 2:00 pm. We got down about 3/4 of the old ceiling, but landlord had to go to a family thing, and I was wore out, so we started the cleanup. Wifey showed up about 2:30, and landlord had to leave at 3. Wifey and I cleaned up until about 7:00 pm. Then we went home and collapsed.
Today I went into Portland and played Contract Programmer while Wifey played Real Estate Broker, and then this evening we grabbed a couple of Pogy’s, finished the cleanup, and moved things back into the sales room. Got home about 8:30.
I’m pooped.
I’m working Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have a friend who owns a small store, and she seems to never plan correctly for how much help she needs at the holiday season, so I generally pitch in and help out in the store. Of course, the extra cash helps this time of year – but it does make it harder to keep up with my regular clients (but that seems to slow down a bit now, so it kinda evens out).
I finally decided that I don’t want to write a novel (so much for NaNoWriMo) so instead I’m going to work on my latest screenplay. Y’all can say you knew me when…
In case I miss it, HAPPY BIRTHDAY (tomorrow) donkeybear.
Welcome to all the new cool kids. I’m a new cool kid myself – this is my third MMP.
It’s OK. You posted that at 12:03 AM my time, so it was the right day.
On a side note, I wore a button at work today (as swampy, at least, knows, I apparently have a thing with buttons at work) that proclaimed that it was my birthday. I went home with more money than I ever have after a shift. That, and we were also really busy.
I’m in here at an early hour for unknown reasons, so I’ll wish you a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! on the correct day. I’m sure swampy will be here momentarily to sing…
