Guild Wars 2 general discussion

That would be very nice. I didn’t know they existed.

They didn’t before now, only one time use from black lion chests and gem store.

Big update with new content is coming in a couple of days. New dungeon will be included along with other changes to the persistent world.

A new class of items will also be introduced. It seems it is on a path to introducing legendary armour.

Also, rumor has it that the requirements for legendary weapons will be lowered. No idea if that is true, but I kind of hope it is.

The new Fractal Dungeon(s) are fantastic.

However, the events and goings-on are just crap. There’s broken event after broken event after broken event.

Yeah, I wouldn’t waste time on events or quest lines tonight. Nothing is working currently except the dungeons.

You can still kill the crabs for the monthly reward. The new island will be available tomorrow…

Well, assuming it’s not as bugged as the rest of it has been.

I love the idea of new content coming in–but I’d rather less frequent, more playable.

I found this on reddit, and thought it was awfully cool. Watch in full-screen HD.

I see they added some daily/monthly achievements for sPvP. Since I’m primarily a WvW kinda guy, I doubt I’ll have the time to go after these. Anyone have the dope on what the rewards are?

The end of the karka event was long and great. I got really good stuff out of the final chest, but there were several issues. Anet has some very pissed off people in the game right now. Hopefully, they will own up and make it right. People who participate in a 2 hour event and don’t get the reward chest are not happy ATM.

Daily reward for sPvP is a tournament ticket and a glory boost. Monthly is 10 tournament tickets multi glory boosts and something at random, I think.

Hell, at least they got to participate. I got shunted to overflow with no waypoint active near Canach’s Folly, no way to get there (because the earlier quests were active, the bridge to the area between Dappled Shores and Driftglass Springs was out, or not built yet). Bloody frustrating, because trying solo runs to the area was friggin’ near impossible.

I don’t care about the chest–I just wanted to play and I couldn’t even do that.

There was an something on the Guild Wars 2 forums that say Anet will address the problems but it will take some time. They need to do that and really need to fix things so buggy content doesn’t get released like this weekend.

I managed to do the first quest series given by the NPC in the main square of Lions Arch. But the second quest series that started with the NPC by the Mystic Forge was bugged out, so that’s where I stopped.

At this point I think it’s amusing that game companies are still trying to do these time-limited, space-limited events. They always fail because servers that are tuned for regular player density get crushed by the event rush. And by bugs that don’t appear until thousands of players exercise the code. WoW, Rift, Champions and now GW2 have all tried events like this and failed.

They really need to spread events out. Over a long period of time–so there’s not any single “special” time. Or over multiple zones–so there’s no key zone that everyone needs to be at.

Anyway, I’ll be happy to get back to my normal play routine. It’s what’s fun about GW2.

I don’t have any toons higher than lv36, so I didn’t try to participate in the event.

I rolled a Mezmer. Are the illusionary clones [of me] supposed to be doing damage? All I see are white “0”'s from their efforts… (I realise I can detonate the illusions.) The dps of the Mezmer seems much lower than my warrior, guardian, engineer, elementalist, and ranger.

What is the most ideal weapon(s) equipage for solo PVE play?

That was a mistake. Everyone got boosted to 80 for the event. Sure, you’re not as good as “natural” 80, but you’re most of the way there.

Mezmer DPS is definitely on the low side, but you prolly have more escape/survival/utility tricks than any other class, and can use them more flexibly. It is more of a PvP class just because of your wide array of toys, but you can still excel in PvE. You’re definitely not going to be Thief DPS, though.

I play warrior. Yes, I’m pretty tough and can do a lot mroe damage. However, that all comes at a huge cost and if things don’t go my way, I’m probably DOA with nothing to show for it or desperately running to safety while my butt gets nibbled by a rockdog. Mezmers can’t kill as easily, but they can harass forever.

Ok, thanks. I figured I was doing something wrong. It seems to take me [too] long to kill same level regular mobs.

At low levels, I don’t have much skills unlocked yet, so I am not seeing the utility.

I sold a bunch of stuff, gathered all my money and bought my legendary pre-cursor weapon.

I play mesmer, and highly recommend that you watch a series of videos, starting with this one. The narrator is an exceptional teacher, and extensive gameplay is used to illustrate his concepts. He goes through all the weapons and skills, then lays out a build that’s perfect for leveling and yet flexible enough to be great in dungeons. Honestly, he’ll turn your assumptions about mesmers upside-down, because he’s really adept at understanding and explaining the synergy of skills when used together. If you thought that mesmers were weak, you’ll learn that they are powerful when played well – and yes, good dps. I’m no genius at combat, but using his suggestions has really changed how I play.

I love my mesmer. She’s actually pretty tough–between clones/phantasms, shatters, confusion, evasion/kiting etc, she doesn’t take a lot of damage, and manages to deal a decent amount. Weapons: I swap between sceptre/pistol and staff. I get that dude in the video loves his sword, but I prefer ranged weapons. I usually play solo and, all up, she’s pretty self-sufficient. I could wish for a little more healing but, properly managed, it’s not too bad.
