Guild Wars 2 general discussion

If you use a karma booster when you use the liquid karma you can get about 10K karma per bottle. I’d recommend using the booster and most if not all the liquid karma on your main character. I’ll be using some on my Ele because she has spent so much karma buying stuff for cooking and tailoring, but probably 8/10 will go on my necro.

Haha, I wish I had known that before I guzzled all mine down!

I don’t think i’ve ever been more pleased with myself as i was after getting to the top of that clocktower. Take that college degree.

You lucky bastard. You get some nice exotic shoes. I haven’t come close yet…too many Charr and Norn blocking my view.

Any tips on WvW?

We’re getting hammered in Henge of Denravi. One of the servers took 95% of everything, which means they’re individually butched out with the orb bonuses. Things aren’t fun, so people aren’t always sticking around-

-and I don’t blame them. It’s no fun to be facerolled by larger numbers of stronger enemies who have no reason to be afraid of you, and who control the teleports, when you’re so far down the ladder that climbing out is going to be a massive pain.

However, I’ve got to get another 40 kills before month-end, and that’s not going to be easy.

When the servers are not balanced in WvW it is not fun. There really isn’t too much you can do, but there are some things. Last week it was bad for our server as well, but we did manage to get a keep so we could have access to the jump puzzle. A group of 5 of us camped part of the jump puzzle for about 2.5 hours. With a couple of arrow carts and a mesmer with portals, we held off until a group of about 20 finally pushed in and killed us.

Another thing to keep in mind is small groups (upto 4) can get into battles with NPCs and not have the crossed orange swords appear on the screen for everyone to see. That is why we had a group of 5. One held back while the rest of us killed. It does suck playing from so far behind, but that is part of the game. I’ll see if I can glean anymore ideas.

For those of you fighting the Mad King, don’t forget to fight your way to the bottom of the dungeon after defeating him to claim a chest with additional rewards!

That was fun, even on my level 17 mesmer!

That clocktower jumping puzzle was intense, maddening, hilarious fun. Took me 2 hours, partly because I was too busy laughing at other people’s falling to land my own jumps accurately.

So where’s all this Halloween stuff happening? I haven’t seen anything unusual except some candy corn mining nodes and a few trick-or-treat bags drop. I hate when games have events and there’s little in-game guidance to what’s going on (SWTOR’s zombie event was a prime example).

?

It’s everywhere. Lion’s Arch is covered in Halloween stuff, thre’s 4-5 events you can play through, scary halloween doors which do various things, and so on.

Okay, Lion’s Arch; I’ll make my way there. Lately, I’ve been in Diessa Plateau and Snowden Drifts and there’s nothing Halloween-flavored except for a few random drops and the candy corn nodes.

I got an ingame-mail for every single phase of the event (currently in phase 3) with detailed descriptions where to go and what to do.
Lions Arch is the main event with the Mad King Dungeon, in Queensdale (and presumably some other starting zones) there are a lot of doors leading to the Mad Kings Realm with various activities, mini-games and the jumping puzzle from hell (don’t get me wrong - it is fantastic but really, really hard and frustrating)

There’s four “acts” to the Halloween stuff.

Act I is running around talking to ghosts and acquiring pages of a book about the Mad King. Start talking to Magister Tassi, an asura standing next to the Lion’s Arch statue (and reading the mail you got with the candy corn-powered scanner). It also introduced the food fight stuff and Candy Corn mining nodes.

Act II is running around and gathering another six pages from talking to ghosts (and you’ll have to go into higher-level areas this time). It also opened up portals to the Mad King’s Realm, where you can do another (very difficult) jumping puzzle, explore a PvE area and participate in a couple of PvP games.

Act III is the Mad King’s dungeon (accessed at the Lion’s Arch statue). It’s really just a boss fight.

Act IV starts tomorrow (Oct 31).

All the Mad King’s realm stuff (the dungeon, the PvP games, and the jumping puzzle) supposedly close with the start of Act IV, so if you wanna do it, hurry. The book collecting will be around until the end of the event (Nov 5?).

The jumping puzzle was indeed frustrating, but oh so satisfying when I beat it.

I don’t have any toons high enough level to do the Act 2 books. :frowning:

Get with other people. No killing is necessary, as long as somebody else is tough enough to finish the foes for a couple of the bits.

I saw a ton of low-levels getting their Act 2 books. They’d run around nekkid and stick close to the level 80s. They died a lot, but usually there was someone around to clear mobs and revive them.

I just got a witch’s hat town clothing item for playing Mad King Says in Lion’s Arch =p

Yup. It seems that there may have been an everlasting tonic that dropped from the chest, but I never saw one. A guildie did get an EL tonic from the personalized ToT bags, but I have no idea how many she opened to get it, a couple thousand I think.

Someone got a permanent bank access thingamajig from the chest, extremely jealous of that one.
