Guilty as Charged

As some of you know, last February (the 8th and the 17th) I was held up and robbed at my place of business. The man accused plead guilty today. <insert heavy sigh of relief here> A presentence investigation is underway and sentencing is expected to take place late this week.

So now I don’t have to testify. Sure, I’ll be out twenty dollars a day and twenty-eight cents a mile, but I’m still pretty damn happy.

Congrats! You’re very lucky to have come out (relatively) unscathed. My oldest friend was shot & killed at his job by some punk kids (19 & 17). They asked him for money, he gave it to them and begged them not to hurt him & they shot him anyway. They were both sentenced this month to life in prison w/o parole. Sometimes it just don’t pay ta leave the house. By the way, the company he worked for, Domino’s, gave his widow and 5 year old a whopping 5,000.00. Wow, can they spare it? I mean all he did is die for their crappy pizza.

Wow, Lnix. There isn’t much I can say. I’m sorry. (I always feel really lame when I say that.) I’m happy that the people that did this aren’t going to get away with it. I kind of know how you feel. A friend of mine was working in a convenience store when a man came in and kidnapped her. He didn’t take any money but he did later kill her. He’s on trial right now. I hope he gets put away for life.

On a brighter note, thanks! I was really happy when I found out I wouldn’t have to testify. My mom was too. (She was with me the second time I was robbed.) To add to my OP, if he hadn’t plead guilty, he wouldn’t have been charged with the first robbery because it wasn’t on tape. And if he hadn’t come back the second time, he wouldn’t have gotten caught. I’m just glad the guy’s an idiot.

First of all, congrats Silver…that must make you feel at least a LITTLE better, although I’m sure you’d have prefered the whole thing had not even happened.

Dude, that is some fucked-up shit! I remember reading about a guy who worked at a 7-11 and after they got robbed he ran out to get the license plate # and got shot. Not only did they not pay for any of his medical bills or show any sort of gratitude for helping catch the thieves, they FIRED HIM because it’s against company policy to “interfere” or resist during a robbery!

I’m also happy for you, Silver_Fire, and sorry that you had to go through that at all. I’m relieved I was never held up when I worked fast food. You know, it’s disturbing to be told that the security camera near your rather isolated drive-thru cash register is for your safety. Safety? Gimme a rifle if you want me to feel safe.
