Wanted to know if people have CD’s that they love, but hide when company comes over.
Right now, I have to admit I am jamming out to “Hoppity Song” by Five for Fighting. It is from this compilation of kids songs redone by new artists like Barenaked Ladies, Guster, Cake. Catchiest song of all time. “Hop Hop hippity hop hop hippity . . .”
Five for Fighting is actually pretty good! What album is that you’re talking about?
I don’t actually have the CD (bad me, I know), but I’m a closet fan of Amber’s new album “Naked”. Don’t tell anyone I said so, though.
It’s called “For The Kids” and it is a CD put out for charity, VH1’s Save the Music. The songs are all kids songs, but they are performed by new artists like Cake, Guster, Dan Wilson, Wilco, even Hootie and Sarah McLachlan. Hoppity song is definitely my favorite, but the Dan Wilson track is also pretty good.
Your Amber secret is safe with me!
Several years ago, I bought Jeannie C. Riley’s greatest hits CD just for the song “Harper Valley PTA”. It ended up being my favorite CD. I play it loud and often. I love her twangy voice, but I DO hide it when friends come over. They just wouldn’t understand.
Eric
I’m currently listening to Madonna’s “Die Another Day” and “Work It” by Missy Elliott. This coming from a girl-punk/riot girl disciple. I think I may be excommunicated.
I’m a closet Destiny’s Child fan, and I kinda don’t mind Avril Lavigne’s Complicated. Don’t own (and wouldn’t) any CDs though.
ABBA. Pre-ABBA ABBA. Post-ABBA ABBA.
Ha! I burned my own CD of songs by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I titled it “Guilty Pleasures” and I keep it hidden when I’m not listening to it.
All Saints. “Pure Shores”. A pop classic.
Really.
Snoop Doggy Dogg’s “Doggystyle”. Beeyotch.
Dr. J
In the depths of my collection, I have both ABBA Gold and Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall.
It’s not really a guilty pleasure, but I get made fun of daily for having a huge collection of show tunes.
Disney’s Spectromagic parade soundtrack. 15 minutes of fantasy!
Anything by Prince.
I have a considerable collection of LPs, and to a lesser extent, CDs. I am somewhat ashamed of a Duran Duran single I got ages ago (though I don’t know where it is now).
I have some MP3s I am embarrassed about. “I Get Knocked Down” by Chumba Wumba comes to mind.
I like Meat Loaf. I own many Meat Loaf albums. I hope to one day attend a Meat Loaf concert. Please do not hit me with large rocks.
I have something of an affinity for Country music. Specifically, I have a thing for hot sounding country-girls singing about how much they love me.
I don’t have any Dixie Chicks or Trick Pony or Faith Hill CD’s, but if anyone rides in my truck, I rapidly turn the radio station from the local country station.
Toby Keith and the Oak Ridge Boys. I have some of their MP3s.
Yikes. And I listen to hard core Classical (you know, Sibelius, Wagner, blah blah blah) most of the time.
Can’t explain it.
Nestled in my classic to hard rock cd’s, you will find Milli Vanilli…yikes!
I kinda like Hanson.
