Most out of place album you own…I would say that most of the CD’s I own are Underground Hip Hop and other rap albums, I am an annoying rap fan as you all know but I have bought a few CD’s that are really out of place in my collection…the 2 that stick out the most and make my friends say “What the F_ck?” are the Billy Gilman album one voice and the Toby Keith album. I can’t even believe I spent 15 dollars each on those 2 but anyway I listen to them so it was worth it even though for some reason I feel weird when I do play those particular CD’s.
I own the Hilary Duff CD … but that’s only because I used to work at a newspaper, and free CDs came in all of the time. I think I grabbed it mainly so I could shock people by saying, “Hey, I own the Hilary Duff CD!”
Prince’s “1999”, apparently.
I’m a 35-year old, white, middle class mother of 3. But when I’m getting ready to go to work in the morning I crank up Limp Bizkit’s chocolate starfish and the hot dog flavored water because it really gets me going.
I’m sure it would be hilarious to someone to see me gettin down to such refrains as “I’ma keep my pants saggin, keep a skateboard, a spray can fulla taggit” and such.
The only bad thing is I have to buy the Walmart censored versions of CDs like this because I don’t want my kids to hear the swear words.
Johnny Cash, Greatest Hits vol. I & II. Looks good next to all that Patti Smith & Devo.
I don’t know if I qualify for this. Just off the top of my head, I’ve got Strauss, Hank Williams, Benny Goodman, both Joplins (Scott and Janis), a couple of medieval plainsong albums, ZZ Top, assorted bluegrass, some Dixieland, and Marlene Deitrich. Oh, and Johnny Cash, of course.
I suppose if I found some heavy metal or rap in there, then that would count, but I doubt it.
Boy George and Culture Club’s Greatest Hits album.
I don’t like any of their music. I just had that song from the Crying Game stuck in my head for weeks, and I bought the album in despiration to try to get rid of it. If only I had the internet back then…
I’ve got a widely varied collection ranging from The Cure to Mongolian traditional music, Rage Against the Machine to lot of Irish traditional music but My Best of Snoop Dogg really is the odd one out.
Well this is a toughie. Between the Goldberg Variations, The Darkness , Bonzo Dog Do-Da Band, Gamelan, Judy Garland***** Classical Indian, all the usual rock mainstream suspects(Zep-Floyd-Who-Nirvana-Beatles…) Whalesong, Shakespeare, Strauss, Moloko, Beethoven, Jimmy Yancy (Boogie Woogie), Stravinsky, Count Basie, Motorhead, Joni Mitchell, Phillip Glass, PookahMacPhellimey may have me beat coz’ I don’t have any Mongolian music (would some Devo qualify?)
What could stand out from that lot? Well. . .
Leonard Nimoy Sings  This is a heinous crime of a recording, it was a present from my brother who - I guess - thought it would be amusing. It is not. Thank cripes he’s never found the Shatner equivalent.
***** don’t read anything into that.
Thanx
