Heh heh heh…“U was hard”…heh heh heh…
Thanks, for that!
Meanwhile, the ones that give us such a bad reputation get all of the attention. Frankly, I don’t want any residents from Rhea County moving to Nashville – unless they’re gay, of course. Or liberal. Or libertarian. Or at least openminded. I feel sorry for every thinking person who lives in that county. It must be humiliating.
Dayton, TN can celebrate “Scopes’s Loss” all they want. But someone needs to remind them that his loss was overturned by the State Supreme Court.
Last week someone in the Tennessee legislature tried to ban abortion.
Since state jobs are being out-sourced to other counrtries, maybe we should out-source legislative offices.
tdn, at least the average I.Q. for Tennesseans would go up when you left.
It was only overturned on a technicality. The underlying law was not overturned.
Thank you.
One of the sad things is that when Southerners do actively take a stand against racism, they don’t want it broadcast loudly because they’re afraid it’ll attract more nutjobs. Pulaski, TN is a perfect example of this. The town has the misfortune of being the place where Nathan Bedford Forrest founded the KKK. Naturally, the Klan likes to hold rallies there to mark the event. This pisses the locals off to no end. When the Klan announces that they’re going to have a rally there, the townsfolk immediately begin rounding up all the civil rights activists they can find to speak at a counter demonstration, and practially the whole town turns out to show that they’re opposed to everything the Klan stands for, but they don’t want the whole world to know about the matter.
Because if word got out, you’d have tons of folks there on both sides of the issue, and that could lead to violence which the town really isn’t able to handle (It’s still a fairly small community from what I understand.). So it’s better for them to keep quiet about their efforts to show they’re not bigots than to announce to the world what it is they’re doing.
If you really want out, email me. I help people find jobs (in the state of Missouri) for a living…
Wonder what they would have done with that one guy in the Bible-you know, the one who hung out with all the whores and tax collectors and thieves? I think he was executed by the Romans or something.
Oh now there’s a step up…
Otto, don’t be a hater.
The latest news is that they rescinded the motion last Friday. In my surfing, I came across an interesting page. Looks like some local message board-live journal representing Rhea County. I like their comments on this:
“On March 19th, 2004, the County Commissioners rescinded the previous motion described above… or did they? The actual motion that was rescinded, was to rescind the ban on Gay Marriage… no such motion was ever made in the first place. Does the county intend to now issue gay marriage licenses?”
So there a few people living there that understands irony. I hear there is a college in the county.
