There are some things I love about living here in Tenses, particularly in Nashville. I’ve made wonderful friends here. The food is delicious. The community that I live in is both culturally diverse and some of the most caring people I’ve ever met.
But the one thing I absolutely hate is the fucking legislature. Instead of focusing on things that are really important like making sure our kids are safe in their schools (since they aren’t ) or making sure that families that are struggling can get help they need, they instead focus on gerrymandering Nashville to ensure that the Democratic vote is watered down,, [punishing Nashville for dating to not want the problems having the RNC here](https://apnews.com/article/abortion-politics-tennessee-state-government-nashville-making sure that TN youth have no access to transgender care before 1804cfaba9fe49aacdd9d693207b77d992), and drag performers. Because of course our schools don’t need to be safer. We don’t need to worry about guns being able to be in anyone’s hands. We don’t need to worry about helping the homeless or helping families that are struggling or anything else social. No, we focus on drag queens, making kids for into whatever box they think they should be in and some parents making the decisions for all by saying that nothing that they disagree with should be in schools rather than, oh, passing attention to what their own kids are doing and asking for an alternative if they object.
If we didn’t have the college package that we do thanks to my husband’s work at Vanderbilt the last 12+ years, I would beg him to look for a job in another state. Because as much as I believe in staying and fighting a system from the inside, they’ve made it dammed near impossible by attacking the deck so heavily against us.
I’m sure there are Republican politicians across the land who have decided that this was the one. The last straw! Enough is enough!
But Americans keep voting for those motherfuckers. We are sick fucks. What the fuck are we doing to our kids? The kids who weren’t killed in that school today get to carry this baggage around for the rest of their lives. But keep voting for Republicans, you sick fucks. “Shall not be infringed” is my favorite out-of-context sentence fragment!

Not the ones I know, and generally not here in Nashville. Yeah, we have some assholes here but for the most part the people in Nashville itself are pretty open minded. The surrounding counties, however, are full of assholes who couldn’t open their minds with a can opener and a map.
And I’m not seeing any of our local news sources saying anything about the shooter being trans. Everything in seeing are from places like the NYPost and the Mirror, nothing official from any Nashville news or from MNPD.
Not that they’ve said yet, but they did mention finding a manifesto.
Oh believe me, there are more than a few of us here in Nashville that are pissed as hell about it. Pissed, but not surprised that Lee is all “Ok for me but not for thee.”
Yeah as soon as the gender of this shooter came out I knew we’d NEVER hear the end of it from the usual right wing assholes. I mean, out of…how many dozens of school shooters…ONE of them is transgender…that doesn’t seem like a correlation to me…but of course these scumbags are going to try to make it one.
