I’ve got to stop drive-by posting from work. Thanks, Thudlow, I meant Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
It never occurred to me before, but I can totally see Lorelai and Rory growing up to become Sophia and Dorothy.
I don’t much like the concept of “guilty pleasure.” I mean, if you like something, it’s because you see something of value in it; what guilt? (This, of course, from a movie geek whose topten lifetime movie list includes Showgirls.)
However. I must confess that, although I recognize how bad *Life With Mikey * is, on just so many levels–I mean, come on: Michael J. Fox AND Nathan Lane?–I just enjoy it so much. Cyndi Lauper as the secretary? All those auditions by untalented kids? Betty singing on the streetcorner? Come on!
So I guess I’ll have to claim that as a guilty pleasure.
I used to collect Archie comics, and I listen to Kelly Clarkson.
hangs head in shame
I like ElO, Nena, and I really want this Crazyhead Record.
I could watch World’s Wildest Police Videos (the various incarnations thereof) forever. That, and the world’s strongest man competitions.
I own and regularly re-read several books by L. Ron Hubbard.
I really liked hot stuff the lil devil, Lotta, Casper, Spooky and the whole Richie Rich Universe as a young comic connieseur. This is very shameful for me to admit and somehow seems a sign of weakness at the SDMB.
I like reding Laurell Hamilton’s “Anita Blake” series, And really like Maryjanice Davidson’s “Undead and Unwed” series. Actually, I am a sucker for supernatural romances. I also read Tom Clancey. Go figure.
That is embarassing! I have pretty low taste in literature, and even I can’t force myself to read JE novels.
(Says the person currently 2/3 of the way through the latest John Grisham novel. :o )
Ha! I knew I couldn’t be the only one buying these books, or else they wouldn’t keep publishing them.
To me, guilty pleasure is something that you won’t publicly admit to liking, and even if the geeky guy 2 cubes over starts talking about, you won’t join in because you’re afraid it would hurt your ‘image’.
I like chick-lit, particularly Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic series. I don’t even like shopping, but dammit if I’m not hooked on those books!
I’ve been listening to The Archers (the longest-running soap opera in the world, on the radio) for 26 years now. Lizzie and I are the same age, so I grew up with her. And I used to have a crush on her.
Oh My Og…I thought Iwas the only one.
Dirk Pitt for King
Funny I should find this thread, because, ya see, Grease just happened to be on VH1C last night and ummm, I didn’t change the channel.
Abba
Josh Groban. Ok, I only have one of his CDs, *Closer, *and I probably won’t buy any more, but still . . .
And my favorite song on that CD is “You Raise Me Up,” even though it’s a cheesy, redundant cliche.
Full House, Step by Step, Boy Meets World reruns on the Family Channel. TGIF was the best when I was a kid.
You can’t break us up! We’re like Rabbit and Costello! Stan and Laurel! Damon and Runyon!
Ummm…Abba on the stereo and I’m looking forward to watching the latest DVD I ordered (“The Perils Of Gwendolyn In The Land Of The Yik-Yak”) (Director’s Cut). :o
