Guilty Pleasures

I watch Strongest Man on Earth competitions.

I like the cheesy country band Big and Rich. They took away my heavy metal credentials for that one, lol.

I’m not one for ‘guilty’ pleasures. I happily announce my most potentially embarrassing sources of joy.

But I do acknowledge a lot will get me funny looks.

Not only do I enjoy most of the Hello! Project groups, but my two favourite are Mini Moni and °C-ute.

I’m a sucker for a good overly dramatic love story. And light and fluffy romance. Pretty much any sort of love story, actually. Especially if both characters are female, but it’s still squeeage, not fappage, dammit.

I watch children’s shows a lot. I have to stop and watch Lazy Town for at least a few minutes every time I happen to pass it. And I don’t know why.

Gilmore Girls - love it for several reasons:

  1. It takes place where I live (The school Rory used to go to, Eastover, is modeled after a private girl’s school about 4 miles from me).
  2. The dialog is outstanding - sort of like how my daughter and I talk
  3. I know Edward Herrman (Lorilai’s father)
  4. Lauren Graham gets hubby hot and he takes it out on me

However, my REAL guilty pleasure is BBC adaptations of books. I went through all the Inspector Morse, all of Wooster and Jeeves, whatever Adam Dalgrish I can find, and is now working on Brother Caedfale. I, Claudius is next - I think Sir Derek Jacobi is great. Now, if I can only find tapes of “Z Cars” . . . .

VH1 reality shows. I Love New York, Charm School, Celebrity Fit Club, the whole lot. They’re like twinkies for your brain. I can’t stop stuffing myself on them. And in the end, I wind up bloated and ashamed.

[snipped a bit]

I’m a guy, just like the OP…
…and I love Stephanie Plum.

I’m even thinking of starting the Full House series and maybe Metro Girl.

(Oh yeah, I like Mary Higgins Clark too)

I may have mentioned my addiction to SpongeBob Squarepants on a previous “guilty pleasures” thread. Now I can add Kim Possible to the list, particularly this season. Oh yeah, and Naruto, when I can get to watch it.

Preach on, preach on…

See, this is one of those “huh?” things you often see listed as a guilty pleasure. How could that possibly be a guilty pleasure? ABBA produced some of the most complex and sophisticated pop of all time, and were in their day more popular than the Beatles. Why on earth should I feel guilty for enjoying ABBA?

I love covering Barack’s face.

  1. Oiled garbage bag
  2. Sweat socks
  3. Melon, heated in a microwave

Wait, I misunderstood the question!

I think Sex and the City is a well written show. Maybe I just like a show where the characters can act and talk like grown-ups.

Eyes Wide Shut is one of my favorite movies, too. Behind Predator and Pulp Fiction, of course.

I own both LFO cd’s. They are the guys that sang that “I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch” song. And Kevin Federline was one of their back-up dancers.

I secretly love fluffernutter sandwiches and ring-dings. Afetr a week of travel, eating in elegant restaurants, all i want is…a fluffernutter!

I like Britney Spears songs
I watch Lifetime Movie Network for the cheesy ass movies
I like the movie “Armageddon” because it’s dumb fun
I like the movie “Down Periscope” because it’s dumb fun

If loving Barry Manilow is wrong, I don’t want to be right. Barry rules baby. Yeah. <silent wolf call> woof</swc>

Have you read Kim Harrison’s books? Totally cool - and the titles are takeoffs of Clint Eastwood movie titles (except for the latest) - Dead Witch Walking, The Good the Bad and the Undead, Every Which Way but Dead, A Fistful of Charms, and Dead Witch Walking.

As for me - I watch Blood Ties. I can’t help it - Kyle Schmid brings the pretty!

Susan

  1. James Taylor
  2. Early Whitesnake
  3. Depeche Mode
  4. America’s Next Top Model
  5. American cheese (the deli kind)

I don’t consider any of my pleasures as guilty but I do like a couple of things that the majority of the Dope seem to despise.

-Deal or No Deal
-Thomas Kinkade paintings. (I have a poster of one. You may hate me now, it’s ok I don’t mind.)

I don’t know how the board feels on this but I also like James Blunt’s music.

Ok I thought of a pleasure I do feel guilty about.
-crumbled blue cheese, the reason being I can eat a whole 6 ounce tub at one sitting several times a week. It is so creamy and bluey it’s awesome. I feel quilty because I need to lose some weight but it’s like herion for my taste buds.

Cyril O’Reilly (Oz) thinks they’re good right before an execution!

Fluffnutters: the new chill-out food.

I’ve said it before and I’m not ashamed to say it again. I liked the show Growing up Gotti, in all its awfulness.

I LOVE Stephanie Plum! On my last airplane I took a Scientific American mag, a data modeling book, and two JE novels. Guess what I read the whole damn flight . . .
