Guinness -- Different Taste in Ireland

For those following this random exchange, Buckfast is one of our most beautiful local beverages, also affectionately known as ‘Lurgan Champagne.’

All together: I love yooou; yes I doooo; an’ I know that you love-a-me too…

I really think its a proximity to brewery thing. ( Beer must not travel well)

Ex. 1: in NH this summer, I had the best Sam Adams (light) that I’d ever tasted. It was Amazingly good. When I got home, I bought some from a local liquor store and it was Average…nowhere near as good as it was in NH.

Ex2: I’ve had Guinness here in the US since my college days. The new pressure can is a nice step upward…but it was always a little too sour. Two summers ago I visited western Ireland (ROI) and was Amazed at how delicious the tap brand of Guinness could be. Heavenly Liquid Refreshment…and not sour at all. While a trip to the ROI is a bit expense for just a glass of good beer, if your travels find you there, it would be silly to waste the opportunity.

PS- Its also home to the Worlds Best Potstill Whisk(e)y,
‘Connemara’, which is unavailable in the US.
