Re: compressors. Way back in the day, I’d use a Tube Screamer to overdrive my tube amp. Then I’d use an MXR Dyna-Comp, set to lite <1/3 compress but boosted to max to overdrive the Tube Screamer. Yeah, I know I was abusing the concept, but it worked okay and got me from slight crunch (amp only) to big crunch (tube screamer + amp) to boosted/crunchiest solo tone (all three) in two clicks of my foot. So basically I wasn’t using the Dyna-Comp as a compressor, more as a boost. I still have both boxes, but these days I just POD.
