I don’t usually post these kinds of links, but this one just seemed perfect for this board. It’s called The Gullibility Test and it’s all about differentiating hoaxes from truths. I only scored 9 out of 20, but I’ve always been known to be fairly gullible anyway. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn’t tell the which of them were hoaxes.
So, how did you score? And which ones can you verify as truth or fiction?
acconav, thanks for the info. I hadn’t looked any further down the page than the first button. Some of the true ones are weird… and some of the false ones I was sure were true! Just goes to show how little I really know.
I scored 14 out of 20. But I am truly gullible. I just tend to believe things that people tell me about themselves. I read too much random triva to be fooled by many news and history and science stories.
Well, I got 12; believed 3 false ones and didn’t believe 5 true ones. I was going to say which ones, but then it occurred to me that that would skew further results. Duh! Is there an “I just wasn’t thinking” test out there? :o
Skepticism: I disbelieved 4 of the 10 true statements.
Although I call bullshit on some of the “true” statements. I do not accept that the laws of physics have changed over time, and even they admit that’s a new, tenuous assertion.
And I couldn’t get to the link supposedly showing a “winged cat,” but whatever mutation those unfortunate kitties bear, I bet they’re being extremely charitable when they call it “wings.”
Another 14-2-4 reporting. Yeah, the “winged” cat one got me too. Although I have to admit I also clicked wrong on the Manhattan-for-$24 question. In my defense I will only say that I thought it was a trick question. Semantics will be the end of me !
