Or just list them, I have:
Beretta 96 Brigadier, .40
North America Arms mini revolver, .22lr
Intratec tec-9, 9mm
Winchester defender model 1300 (pistol grip), 12 guage
Next on the list is:
A monster handgun (probably a .454 Casull)
Ruger plinker KMK-10, .22
ar-15 copy (DPMS probably)
And again for the record I have never hunted and I have no desire to do so, I enjoy shooting and I keep guns for home defense.
Colt sporter competition h-bar (ar-15 type rifle)
Colt gold cup national match .45 automatic
Benelli super black eagle 12 gauge auto
long range competition target rifles and any full auto is lots of fun
My favourite is my 1979 Colt AR-15 Sporter, although it’s “retired”. When I do shoot (which hasn’t been in a long time because AFAIK we don’t have “plinking” places in L.A. County) I use my Bushmaster “AR-15A2” HBAR.
I also get quite a kick (no pun) out of shooting my blackpowder revolvers.
I still like my Walther PPK 9mm, because IMO it’s got good balance, it’s light and easy to carry/conceal, it’s got adequate power, and I think it looks cool. Plus, it was cheap - it cost me about $150 USD, including holster and 3 boxes of ammo.
I really like the S&W 686 .357 Revolvers. After getting over the initial intimidation of firing such a large weapon, it it truely a joy to fire. I’m thinking about getting the 686 with the 2.5 in. barrel, as the 4 in. is just too big/bulky to carry.
I also like the CZ75 9mm, but again, kind of bulky.
How do you like it? I’m thinking about buying another, and although I’m leaning towards the S&W, I haven’t bought yet.
I’ve got an older model - the James Bond gun. Heh-heh.
I haven’t fired it yet, but I used to have the pre-CA-ban version a long time ago and it was pretty nice. One of these days I’d like to get a PPK (not the /S) in .32 so I can have a “James Bond gun”.
[sub]BTW: I have a “James Bond Rolex”. It didn’t sell. I’ll have to list it again after the holidays.[/sub]
Winston Smith, first thank you and second have you looked at a “Clipdraw” or the “Barami Hip Grip”, they are “holsterless carry solutions” for S&W revolvers and they are bad!, in Houston we have a retired radio guy (Jim Pruett) who is big into personal protection and according to him a hammerless S&W .357 with a hip grip is the ultimate carry gun, if you are small you can shoot .38’s.
Man, the PPK is one beautiful piece, but I just can not carry anything that small (old prejudices die hard).
A gun discussion without the controversy, I like it!.
Let’s see…in the past I’ve had:
Charter Arms AR-7 .22
Ruger 10/22
An assortment of cheap .25 and .380 pistols
Firestar .45
Remington 870 12 ga
Ruger Mini-14 (.233)
Winchester Defender 1300 with rear pistol grip
Another cheap 12 ga that I can’t remember the brand of
And currently have:
A Glock 21 (.45)
and A Ruger Mini-14 Ranch (.223)
After coming to school, the only thing I have left is my Ruger slabside Mk II (KMK678GC).
Just passed my Tennessee concealed carry class last week, so I am keeping my eyes open for a 1911 type 10mm. Was gonna go for a Glock 20, but heard the polygonal rifling isn’t suited for cast bullets, and that’s a dealbreaker. Glocks are a little too utilitarian for me, anyways.
Joey G, what exactly does a concealed carry class in Tennessee involve? My knowledge of Tennessee is pretty much limited to its geographical location and the Davy Crockett song. I love that song.
Anyway, I’m going to tell you what my favourite gun is, and I bet that you don’t see that much from British dopers. It’s in a rather different style from all the stuff you’ve been mentioning. I have a 120 year-old French side-by-side 16 bore hammergun, with holly engraved on it. This makes it particularly appropriate for this weekend, as I’m going hunting and it’s approaching Christmas time.
El Caudillo Blair won’t let us have toys like you guys, unfortunately. The British public can’t be trusted, you see. But I’m sure that Tony knows what’s best for us all. The devious, slimy, two-faced, hypocritical, useless gurning bastard.
It’s an 8 hour class, 4 hours classroom and 4 hours range. The classroom portion includes firearm safety (of course), limitations of the permt, responsibilities, and some intro gun stuff for people who don’t shoot a lot. The range portion was all about drawing, stances, more safety, proper grip, and so on. Fired about 50 practice rounds, and then shot the 48 rounds needed to qualify. Ranges varied from 1 or 2 feet to 15 yards. It was an excellent class, and I intend to take all the advanced classes this particular school offers.
Just picked up a Kahr K-40 Elite 98 in .40 S&W. It is easy to carry. Corbon 135 grain JHP’s are serious ammo. It holds 6+1 and is Double Action Only. I took it to the range and put 200 rounds through it with no misfeeds or misfires.
Next on the list is a Wilson Combat CQB (Close Quarters Battle) compact 1911 style .45.
I kinda want a Springfield M1-A1 Scout in .308 Win, but I don’t know where I would fire it.
