But, on the off chance that someone wants to answer this…what “Gundam” action figure would you say looks the most like one of the Soviet “sentinel” robots that are featured in the recent Mystique comics?

Um, hm. Got a link to a pic of the sentinel? I have a couple of Gundam models myself, although they’re all Gundam Wing.
Gundamshop.com has more gundams than you can shake a stick at. hyperjes just got me an Epyon that I have been looking for locally for a year. If there is one out there, I bet that is where you will find it.
BTW, you owe me 30 quatloos!

Wow. Actually, to me those look more like Evangelions than any Gundam that I know of. In fact, the resemblence is startling. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some heavy influence from Neon Genesis Evangelion in their design. I have that particular model myself (Eva-02), and it isn’t terribly hard to assemble. Modification is a different animal though…
Oh, and it looks like unfortunately gundamshop.com is out of stock on them right now, but they are out there. I got mine at an anime convention.
