You’re right it does and we end up with traumatized vets, some of which turn out to be violent.

Question: Do these people get the psychologicla help they will likely require?

I think they get better help than they used to. My dad was self-medicating for 45 years before a young, Vietnam-era VA doc said, “Your generation thought you guys were tough enough to work this out on your own. You weren’t so let’s get you the help you need.” Dad was happier the last few years of his life than he might have ever been.
