Gunpowder, Treason and Plot in the MMP

I’m not sure how dog classes will go this coming satiddy. I tried to get her to come into Petsmart yesterday, but for the second time, the sliding doors were too scary. Also, the plaza where petsmrt is plays music outside at annoyingly loud levels, so it’s already a bit of sensory overload.

And we’ll contribute to your Go Fund Me for bail.

Up from naptime. Dinner is bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and corn with Old Bay, along with the usual Old Fashioned. Watching Deadliest Catch.

One cat is chaos. Multiple kittens is more chaos than I can imagine.

Well, I hope the pups were good for you, and the back is less bad.

Sopt will get on my bathrom counter and the washer, but not the kitchen counters(all the same height).

Evening all. Made it through the two soccer games, it was 53F when I started and 44F when I finished, so glad I brought gloves and plenty of layers of clothes. Games went well, one more night tomorrow and the season will finally be over. Home now and warming up a little bit before heading off to bed. Also need to get the heavyweight comforter out as the lighter one is at the dry cleaners.

FCM, may this delivery be a harbringer of future good fortune.

JtC, sorry to hear the tear will mean surgery; hope it all works out.

And best wishes to the rest of you, but that’s all the ambition I have for this evening. Catch y’all on Tuesday, which should be a little less frentic.

Nelson is on the list! Eight and a half years and he never bothered trash baskets. Until tonight. He got into the one in the bedroom, scattered some bandaids and cough drop wrappers, then shredded a tissue. Cabroncito!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 44 degrees Ferret Height(6.66 Centipedes) and no rain.

Gordie used to like to pull band-aids off people. I’m glad I never had major surgery while he was alive.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and cloudy. Weather app says “Just think, it could be humid as fuck outside. Be fucking grateful that it’s not humid as fuck.” I most certainly am, I don’t like heat and humidity at all.

JtC I hope you don’t have too long a wait to see the specialist and they can get you fixed up. Also, glad to hear you’re free again, but not at all happy about the circumstances.

I’m sorry about the migraine, I hope you’re feeling a bit better now.

Poor little sausage, good to know that it helps a bit though.

Yesterday was certainly a day and a half. Had some issues at irk with spreadsheets and a formula that was complicated and not working right, took me most of the day to get all of that sorted out. Then a student managed to randomly click through some stuff and triggered a request to be added to our one of our staff Teams sites. Panic ensued from one of my colleagues, I went to investigate and eventually tracked it down to a document that someone had added to a page and linked directly from the Teams channel. That then meant I had to go through all of the year 1 module pages on our virtual learning site to take that link out, upload the document to each page, and link it that way instead. What a performance.

After that, I sorted out all the rubbish and went out to haul the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb. That’s when I found someone had parked a massive van across the gates so I wouldn’t have been able to get my car out if I’d needed to. That annoyed me so much that I reported it to the local police as it constitutes anti-social behaviour. They called me back to confirm some details, and the owner of the van will be getting a fixed penalty fine through the post. The van was there overnight so he’ll get more than just a sternly worded letter.

I was up earlier than I needed to be, tended to the needs of cats, and I have done a load of laundry. I changed the bedding last night so that’s now been washed and is hanging in the bathroom to dry.

I’ve just heard the dustcart come past so I will go outside and haul the biiiiig bin back to where it lives. And there endeth the morning’s excitement.

((JtC)) Ugh.

((OYKW)) I hope he feels better today.

Yay for new running boards, MetalMouse.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet, but we’ve got a mama cat and four kittens living on our back patio. They are the absolute cutest things! I think I am going to have to call the humane society, though, to see if someone can come pick them up. My mom is allergic so they can’t come in and I don’t want them being out there in the cold as the temperature decreases.

Yesterday was mixed emotions. I got an actually compliment from the reviewer saying that my writing had improved. However, the whole team got an email saying that if we doing get our IEPs done in the appropriate time frame from here on out that we’ll get written up. I am guilty of taking too long. That being said, I turned out 4 IEPs in the last week. It’s hard to get ahead when you’ve got so many going. I’ll just do my best and hope for the best.

One other not so funny thing… I haven’t figured out why yet, but since I switched to my own insurance, it now costs approximately $125-$150 to have a 50 minute conversation with my therapist. Previously it was $25-$35. Ridiculous.

Today is my doctor’s appointment.

Oh, and BooFae, that sounds extremely annoying. I’ve only started working with Teams with this job and I can’t imagine having our students accidentally in the mix.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out of clear with a predicted high of 74 and sunny. The big items on today’s agenda are to vote, Public Service Commissioner is the only item on the ballot, but the PSC sets utility rates so it’s important, and to get shorn. I should decide what clothes I will take with me. I will need to wear actual grownup slacks and shirts on Firday and Sattidy. Can’t remember the last time I wore adult clothes two days in a row! Plus grownup shoes! We will be our usual RDOS selves this afternoon. Sup will be leftovers.

OYKW is fully recovered. Goin’ back to bed with Ben seems to have done the trick. He will be able to host the orgy while I am gone.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I must purtify myself and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. On the plus side we should be able to do the things in under an hour.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Mornin’ all - Almost 7am so ~20 minutes post sunrise as I start driveling from my warm bed in St. Augustine. NWS sez 52/11 on the way to 75/24. Brisk by my standards at least until noonish. But sunny, which is nice.

Cook Out was a bust. Nothing in prior MMPs or their website prepared me for them being drive through only. With nowhere to eat it, not much point in buying it. Wiki later informed me they have a few new stores with interiors, but not many. And their own website lacks a feature to filter for them.

No Buc-ee’s yesterday either. The ones I passed were either too soon after breakfast or just before I was arriving here and I didn’t want to spoil a nice dinner with a gut bomb BBQ sandwich. Might work out better during the remaining drive home.

Unsure whether I’m going home early, late, or tomorrow. Kinda depends on when the various tourist stuff opens up here on a weekday in shoulder season.

As to JtC’s Q about meeting GF: Fri evening - Sun noon for sure, and maybe a low-rent rendezvous on Thu night. She’s about frazzled to bits.

FCD has been complaining about how much he hurts after doing so little in his shop. I keep reminding him he’s no longer 30… or 40… or 50… I refrain from mentioning that he caused his own spinal issues by not asking for help to move heavy stuff because that just gets him all pissed off. Pick your battles, right?

It was rather disappointing - at least to me. Can I possibly be losing my sweet tooth???

Is she too heavy for you to carry in? I hope you get a trainer as good as our - Tricia is amazing!

Ziva tried to climb up on our bed last night - I heard her attempts, but she gave up pretty fast. She’s too old for climbing. Or too fat. Or too something…

According to their website, my last package is in the center in Upper Marlboro, theoretically being loaded for delivery today. So we shall see.

I don’t know what’s going on with me - scooping the cat box used to be the first chore after feeding the dog - back when I was working. Since retiring, I keep forgetting about it and today there was 3-days-worth of ick to scoop. Dammit. Poor Ziva. :frowning: I need to do better. I also need to buy some more litter.

Today has started in the low 40s, headed to the low 50s. I’m going to drive the mower around to chop up leaves. I also plan to drag hoses for watering the new plantings - the sprinklers will be delivered on Thurs, in time for the next watering. I should also make a trash/recycling run today or tomorrow. Hope all that doesn’t cost me my RDOS card! :open_mouth:

My PC has been pissy of late - I’m running Win 10 - it can’t use Win 11. FCD was going to swap it out with one of his machines, then take this one out to his shop for… something. So I need to put a bunch of stuff on the external drive. And I need to find my Firefox password so I can access it from the new machine. Always something. My tablet has been a tad wonky of late, too. It’s only something like 3 years old - is it a toddler thing?

Happy Tuesday, anyway!!

Pictures you say? Gobs of 'em.
This is one of the petroglyphs that fascinated me. Presumably some type of warrior there in the middle. With really huge feet, a helmet with either antennae or weirdly straight antlers affixed, one hand holding a giant wrench, the other seems to have a severed head, and like typical prehistoric warriors, a small air-to-air missile strapped to his back. Nothing unusual here. Wife said maybe it was just a big sword, but I thought the guards (hilt) should point the other way. As depicted, your hand would slide down this one to the blade. As to what’s beneath his left elbow, your guess is as good as mine. Another head? Maybe something in the background?

I don’t really believe the folks in 400 AD were sporting missiles as part of their battle-rattle, but you gotta admit, this pics are kinda weird.
Imgur

And what collection of ancient warriors would be complete without a robot accompanying them. With a weird set of concentric rings “shooting” from one arm and what appears to be a claw on the other.
Imgur

Ha! That’s probably it. And thanks for the re-welcome!

As long as I’m travelogue-ing, this was the view just a short walk from our campsite.

Dang. Sorry to hear about Ollie. We’re treating Lucy (our dog) with both meds, and the Cytopoint does wonders. It lasts about a month so we try to schedule the injections just prior to journeys.

I can easily disprove the flat earthers. If it were flat, cats would have pushed all of us off the edge by now.

Enthusiastic agreement here. My wife and I are the only ones who can still talk* to all of our extended family. As former R - conservatives, we’ve brought at least 4 of our kin along with us over the past few years. As of now, only one of the former (9) trumpers remain within the cult.

*It’s a PITA to remember who’s not talking to who, who’s been disowned, and which names are forbidden to be uttered around which other family. I’m starting to tire of this junior-high behavior. But I (we) persevere.

Hope everyone has a good week. I think I hear the garbage truck and I need to

Good morning.

It’s 44°F, dark, and cloudy. The morning will have areas of dense fog, the afternoon will be mostly cloudy, and our daytime temp is expected to be 56°F.

JtC, I’m sorry to read about your shoulder. I hope you can get in to see an ortho sooner, rather than later.

Sticky Buns, hang in there.

Pullin, good to see you back, and thanks for sharing the pics!

I found only two very water-logged chanterelles yesterday, and I left them in the ground. I couldn’t get to my usual spot because they had closed and blocked off the road a mile from where I wanted to be. I would have parked there and just walked, but they had signs stating that only authorized personnel were allowed, and work trucks were running up and down the forest road.

So, I backtracked a little, and every spot we went to, too, had been cleaned out. I could see the broken twigs, branches, and flattened plants, so I knew people had been there ahead of me (probably the day prior). After searching in five or six different spots, we found a trail (with a bathroom!) and wandered along that trail. It was lovely, and I posted pics of it on Facebook. The first half of the trail was through old-growth forest and should have been prime chanterelle territory, but again, someone had been there before us. I wanted to search more, but once again, G was over it and wanted to go home.

So, no chanterelles, but the company was good, and I found a nice little trail to wander that is actually an Audubon trail as well.

If it had been perhaps slightly less wet, I would have attempted the steeper terrain to find chanterelles, but G kept wandering off, and I don’t think she would have tried the same ground. In many ways, it would be better if I could go alone, but I’m unable to do that. The nice thing is that heavy rain held off until we were on our way home.

We’re pretty much on the end of chanterelle season anyway, but usually, you can still find them in the first part of November. Nellie, I’ve been foraging for chanterelles since I was a young kid, so I know them well. However, those are the only mushrooms I forage.

Well, I suppose I should get some more coffee down my gullet. You all take care!

Voted. Off to dr because I’m pretty sure I have a YI.
One pill will fix it.
After that, spend the last 15 of my snap, then go to a free church dinner.
Its sunny out!

Mowage/mulchage has been accomplished. I drive ol’ John Deere around so that the discharge chute is aimed into the woods or the shrubbery, mostly. And I discovered where Otis likes to poop - amazingly, it’s out of the way of mowage but easy to find. I shall send FCD there when he gets home. He had to be bled this morning, then he was headed to the marina to see how our teak is coming along.

Theoretically, my last FedEx delivery will be here today. We’ll see how it goes. I gave them a good review yesterday for putting my package on the porch.

I need to go to Aldi, but I think it can wait till tomorrow when Food Lion has their new sales out. It’s just after 9 - Time for morning chillage, methinks.

Morning all. Slept until 7:30am, with briefs visits to the bladder disposal station, and am letting my morning apple settle in (does anyone else get Envy apples? For my money, they are the best tasting ones I’ve found, but YMMV). After yesterdays running around and doing things, today should be much calmer, probably a little gym time and one more refereeing job at 7pm tonight. It’s 50F heading to 70F and not a drop of water to be seen in the sky.

Yank, those are some amazing pictures, I really need to get out to that part of the country someday while I’m still young enough (well, ambulatory enough) to see it.

red, could it be a little stress Nelson is feeling, what with all the changes?

boo fae, hope the inconsiderate parker gets a nice hefty fine.

Sticky Buns, you’re writing well, so you have to do it more and faster now…lovely management you have there. And hope Momma cat and kittens can be corralled and taken good care of.

swampy, happy voting (nothing around here). And slacks and a good shirt; not sure if I could stand that for two days in a row.

Pilot, safe travels today. My only Cook-out is a half-hour away and there are 30 or so other options in-between, so don’t think I’ll be trying them to soon…but at least mine has inside dining.

FCM, happy poop scooping! And keep an eye out for that package drop, I’m all a’twitter to know how it ends…

Taters, sorry to hear the mushrooms had been picked over, but you did get out of the house and found a new trail to wander.

And that’s all for the morning report. Need to get down to some major-league sloth now. Have a good 2sDay.

pullin, great pictures! i can feel the peace from your last picture.

i de-halloweened the condo’s lobby last night. then i enjoyed cat cuddle time. my wee tidy up things is working! voted this morning. should have done it when i got home. sooooo many judges.

i noticed this morning that they didn’t fall back all the clocks on the city hall clock tower. there are 4 of them.

Why is there suddenly a giant green lion sculpture outside the Barnes? this is the new big thing in philly. the sign on it says tiger. why did they put lion in the article headline??! not super tiger looking either…

Our critter rescue group used to set up in Petsmart and many of our dawgs agreed with the delightful Mz. Peach, those doors are too scary.

Does your Petsmart have a loading dock in the back? Its possible the trainer might agree to bring you two in the back door for a few training sessions.

NELSON!!! BAD DOG!

Is he sick? When cats do something out of character like that its often a sign of sickness. /takes back scolding and worries instead.

That wouldn’t fly here. Blocking driveways is a towing offense. Dang about inconsiderate neighbors!

Please start calling now. The shelters are over-full and most have a wait list. I do hope you find something before winter really starts.

How disappointing, but at least you had a good afternoon out with a friend.

Good. Just make sure he cleans up after the orgy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you have a wagon that you could bring her in on?

I can commiserate.

You saw some pretty cool stuff.

The big thing that changed is that the bedroom waste basket is now where he can reach it and I no longer close the bedroom door during the day. I think he’s just being a little stinker.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today is a hurty day, so I need to do some good stretches.

This is the first local election that I’ve sat out in years. With the move and all, I’ve been too busy to do all but the barest minimum of studying issues on the ballot, plus, I don’t have Texas license and tags yet, so I’m still officially (according to the DMV) a resident of Tennessee. That will change this month, since my insurance is due for renewal in December. Once I’m tagged in Texas, my agent is no longer licensed to be my agent. I’m also looking to change insurance to one that’s comparable but considerably less expensive.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I initially leaned toward confronting him about it, but I think it’s best to just let it slide. He doesn’t talk about politics and is clearly not one of the loony right. I don’t want to actively sow discord in the family, so unless he says something that can’t be allowed to stand, I’ll leave it alone. I was able to stay on a friendly basis with my brother for years, and he was definitely a loony righty with an arsenal of guns in his basement.

Speaking of politics, we voted in the local election today for mayor and city council.

The activities person is taking photos today of the resident vets who agree to do it. She’s going to create a vet board with the photos. Oddly, some vets apparently don’t want to participate. I guess anyone who had a really bad experience would not take pride in their service.
