It seemed inordinately chaotic today.. The Blueberries in the Sort Aisle were sending anything that didn’t scan to the 200 Slide, which was overflowing, and the Sort Table Blueberries were not looking to see if the things they were chunking into the cages were missorts or not(I pulled 5 300 Boxline pacakges out of mine). Also the RFID mind control dome was randomly beeping, which set my nerves on edge. As far as the aftermath, TIL that Sephora stores buy gallon jugs of makeup remover. Who in the name of Tammy Fae Baker needs a gallon jug of makeup remover(which is glass cleaner blue, so maybe bring your own if you go to Sephora). Also, I had a 2pack of steel signposts that were bent. Either someone ran over t(with an eighteen wheeler?), or since it was Chinese, made from leftover steel from The Great Leap Forward. And Peak Season hasn’t started yet. In any case, I stopped and bought a couple of new pillows from Tar-Jay on the way home from work.
What is the fine for being a massive twatwaffle?

Yay!
As is the rest of my Silent Night Christmas order.(processed at 0629 at my Center).
Glad it was a good time, even if fungus free.
Well, I’m sure Nelson’s tired of yelling at you and spraying you with a spray bottle every time you climbed up on the counter anyways.
You may be pleased to know that, despite multiple threats to redeliver them to me, the assorted junk has been finally delivered to its chaotic owner. Apparently they also attempted to deliver some other random large bags that were not his, and it came on two different delivery vehicles both of which denied the existence of the other.
FedEx, for when you need something delivered somewhere, but you don’t care where or when.
I am also confused today, and somewhat suspicious; I was attempting something in the lab (along with the very very nice person who’s basically saved the project at this point).
It has not been going well, and this the last big shot to get enough samples to work with, using her adapted protocol. I had 12 samples which needed extracting by the new protocol; of one sample I had an OK version already (not great, so worth another shot, but probably usable), of 3 samples this was not the final one- I still have a backup left to try- but of the final 8 this was it, the end. Previous attempts failed. The last ditch attempt.
Of the 12 extractions, 10 worked.
And… the two that didn’t (probably, there’s a final last-ditch rescue attempt I can try tomorrow, but I don’t have my hopes up) were… the one I already had an OK version of and one I still have a spare sample from.
Huh?
It’s not like the lab gremlins to taunt like that and stop halfway.. Like.. what are the odds that both failed samples were of the 4 that would Not Be a Disaster? That never happens. Everyone else was confused as well. It’s always the one that you can’t replace that goes wrong.
FedEx apparently said something to my delivery person - today’s box was on the porch! Unfortunately, one of the pieces inside was slightly cracked - plastic, and it doesn’t affect its utility so I’m not fretting. However, the outer box was fine, so I’m wondering if the seller inadvertently (or on purpose) sent it out as was. But really, not a problem, and it works like a champ - holding cleaning supplies and spares of shampoo and body wash and terlit paper. So there’s that.
Just back from walking Otis, and I met a neighbor who was out leaf-blowing his yard. His nickname is Chick, which will be easy to remember because it’s my mom’s nickname and was MIL’s nick also. We chatted a bit - he’s a pleasant guy and he knows now where we live, should he see Otis on the loose.
I’ve started setting up the irrigation for the landscaping. My old sprinklers are crap - glad I’ve got new ones coming on Thursday. I think tomorrow I’ll get out there and do some planting. I’m kinda done for today. FCD is planing some of the teak boards. I need to figure out what supper will be. Maybe something chicken-related.
You’ll remember that my employer moved everything to the cloud, causing me to rename the paths in my programs. You’ll recall that they shut down VPN whilst I was on vacation, so I could not connect to my Dell desktop so that I could run my programs. Last week I spend a very long time on the phone with IT, so that they could get access to the Dell. (I was able to get some work done on the Lenovo laptop.) Finally, Friday, I was able to connect to the Dell and run my programs. There was only two little problems. I didn’t have any databases in Access; and I kept getting a popup saying something couldn’t something whenever I tried to save or export a file. They were going to fix that yesterday. Since they’re minor annoyances, they put it off until this morning. I clock in at six, so I was able to get some irk done. IT called and ‘fixed’ the issues… resulting in four hours of fiddling around with neither of us able to connect to the Dell. Where we stand now is that I can connect to the Dell. Easytrieve works… although I had to undo the path names the other guy made me change last week. I’m still getting the popups.
Anyway, I clocked out for lunch, and then clocked in five minutes later when IT called back. Now I’m off the clock. Nice day out, but I’m not getting out for a walk. I’ll try after I clock out for the day. (And I’m going to see Joe the PA Thursday after irk to get that knee injection after all. I wonder if/how that will affect Date Night.)
