Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 78 and sunny. We will procure provisions this mornin’. Then we devote the afternoon to bein’ RDOS sloths as is our wont. Wednesday night doin’s over to the church house will take care of sup. Yep, we are nonstop excitatement here!
VanGo glad Brian is OK, but poor other kitty.
MetalMouse and BooFae the general rule is always style over function and practicality. I am choosin’ function and practically over style. I hope the gay mafia* don’t find out. The consequences will be brutal if they do!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and so much bother, I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I have to do this several days in a row! Why am I bein’ punished like this!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
*The gay mafia is two guys named Bruce and Guido. They break into gay mens’ homes and rearrange the livin’ room furniture all ugly and post pics on the secret gay internet so all the others can point and laugh and make fun of it. They are brutal!
Weird as it may be, I’m hoping these nasty patches of itchy on my arms stay till Moanday when I have my annual dermatologist appt. They’re in for a surprise anyway, what with all the owies from Otis - no bites, all tears from paws. I’m honestly wondering if my skin is more fragile as I advance into geezerhood.
I may not fetch groceries till later today or even tomorrow. The plan hatched last night was to help FCD in the shop with the construction of the swim platform. He had a bad night last night (I woke around stoopit o’clock and saw that he’d gone into the living room - dunno how long he was up.) I closed the east-facing curtains so he could sleep in, and I’ll tend to Otis this morning.
Oh, yeah, this morning: 38-stoopit-Ferrets!!! What’s that all about?? Forecast is for upper 60s today, but Moanday night, it’s supposed to drop below freezing!!
So today will be whatever today becomes. At least I know supper will somehow involve chicken, and I bought a sack o’ spuds - I foresee spud soup in our near future. But I get ahead of myself.
Currently humming Stray Cat Strut. I’ve started trying to find someone for my porch kitties. So far not much luck. I had someone on FB tell me that I should offer to get them spayed/neutered so that someone will take them. Um, no. Financially, that just can’t happen. Still looking for other options.
I have reached out to my friend that I was talking about earlier. She has not responded nor has anyone updated her FB page. While I don’t want her to go, I surely don’t want her to be in pain anymore either. Cancer sucks.
Back to the usual grindstone today. Yesterday was an IEP writing day so I had no other responsibilities. Today back to my kids. I’ve got a student in my math class who is neurodivergent and has major issues with math. They had a major meltdown after just attempting to show up for class the last time they tried. Hopefully today will be different as they can’t graduate without math credits. Their relative that they live with and I have been trying to work together to create a welcoming environment. I hope we all succeed.
And, MetalMouse, I have thought the same about this job, but in reality, any online teaching job would probably be the same. I’m going to just keep trying to do my best. The real irony is that I always used to feel like “what if I’m doing my best and it isn’t good enough” when it came to my kids. Now it may actually be true. My best might be good enough for the kids, but not for the framework of the organization. I don’t know if I’ll have my weekly meeting with my boss this week because she’s been out of town, but I expect if I do that I’ll hear about my lack of meeting the deadlines.
Is there an animal welfare league or a rescue group in your area? Or you could hand them to passing children who will take them home, much to parental dismay…
We got a nasty surprise from the new management yesterday. They’ve decided to start collecting $50/month as a “pet fee”, along with a $500 deposit. We had a fairly hot conversation with the people downstairs over this, as we see it as a money grab. The lease rider appeared in my spam folder, and the Mac wouldn’t allow me to print it. So I went back down and got a printed version from the woman who actually wrote the rider. Now, here’s a surprise. In the email version from the new director, it says “non-refundable $500 deposit”, but in the original document it says “refundable $500 deposit”. So the director changed it without telling the author. I’m going to give them the signed unchanged version without telling them of the mistake and they can go fuck themselves.
Up and caffeinating. I really wanted to sleep another hour, but alas no time. I might come home and nap after coaching high school kids and before DMV stuff. Tonight is the first orchestra rehearsal for this weekend’s concert. It should be fun, but also a bit of a logistical nightmare (orchestra and chorus on stage, plus a second chamber orchestra with its own conductor somewhere off stage, plus an off-stage children’s choir with a portable organ).
Morning all. Have broken fast with an apple and a big bowl of cereal, so belly is happy. Major chore today is mowage, probably around 11am since it should be close to 70F then (53F now). Also need to drop off my remaining candy bags off, it’ll be a chance for my new wheels to stretch it’s legs some as the place is about 20 miles away so getting some interstate time. And tonight the Garbage goes out to the curb. Besides those tasks, I find myself without plans for the first time this week, so will make do.
Pavo, sounds like you have no problem filling your day. Hope the tag replacement can be done relatively painlessly.
boo fae, hope the police get the van problem settled, and hope further that the owners don’t take it out on you/your neighbors, who they probably blame for their ‘problems’.
swampy, thanks for the description of the ‘gay mafia’. Gave me a laugh early in the morning.
FCM, hope the dermatologist can clear up what’s affecting you, even if Otis’s love morks are beyond their ken.
Sticky Buns, I understand your POV and your trying to reach the one kid is the stuff of true dedication IMHO, just wish the bosses were less stressful.
Cookie, I concur that sounds like a money grab, especially if they just dropped it on you and the rest of the pet owners without earlier coordination. Imagine you will not be the only ones raising holy heck about it.
And time to browse the internets before dressing for the lawn mowing in a couple of hours. Have a good Hump Day all.
As I was reading sad kitty news upthread, I saw more sad kitty news on the internet: Maru, the popular youtube cat from Japan, has died. He was 18 years old, and was one of the first famous youtube pets, with millions of views. I started watching him at least ten years ago. 'Bye, Maru, I’m going to miss you.
yest. i was asked if we had any power strips. i said yes! i’ve been using my decluttering system in the office and came across some power strips on friday. i ask myself,”where would i first look for these?” the answer was the server room. i went off to put them there.
i did not put them in the server room…i put them near the server room…
when i confidently went with my boss to the server room they were not there. argh! after a brief search, (where would i look second or third) i found one for her. then much later i found the box with the power cords near the server room. it is now in the server room where it belongs!
things are going better at home. last night was mostly bin night. wheeeee! bins!! during my 5 minute bathroom/tidy breaks, i took recycling to the recycle bin, rubbish to the rubbish room, and boxes to the cardboard bin. dropped off items in the food collection bin. tonight will be the compost bin. soooo exciting! i did a pantry clearing. some was able to go in the food collection bin, other items are compost bin.
My memory of mine is that there were no problems from the injection afterwards but patience is required waiting to results and relief because it can take a week or so for the goody juice to work its way through that complicated joint. After 8 or 10 days I remember being amazed (and no problems since).
If it was me I’d take a spare pair of whiskeypalian grown up ‘dress’ pants just in case you drop rubber chicken dinner gravy on your one good pair. And one spare pair of shoes in case you end up getting one pair having to walk in the rain or the sole starts to fall. When traveling if something weird can happen, it will: gravy or rain or failed shoe glue at the worst possible time. bon voyage! go forth and make the world safe for deviled eggs and cheese straws!
Our skin does tend to get more fragile as we age. I find myself having to lotion (with heavier lotion at that) up far more religiously now than I did even five years ago.
Hugs to the both of you.
Did you sign onto this when your lease was signed. If not, you may be able to put off fees until your next lease signing. $50 a month seems to be a bit high. The most I’ve ever paid was $30 a month.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP.
I’m not as achy today, but have been in and out of the loo for a lower GI issue since 0500 (damn antibiotics). It was tea and toast for breakfast and if it doesn’t stop, supper plans will change from the planned lentil stew.
I’ve wondered if the DMV clerks are suspicious of claims of stolen tags or stickers. My brain wanders to weird places…
I’m not sure what BIL pays, but he’s just got a fish tank. On one hand, no worries about critter pee or chewing. On the other hand, if the tank leaks… I do know they only permit one pet.
Anyway, back from my grocery run. I managed to spend the last $50 at Food Lion to get the $20 coupon, and I decided it would go against 4 of the $6 food boxes that they distribute to local food pantries. I know there are too many people who need my $20 more than I do.
When we went out last night, I noticed the restaurants, including fast food, were on the empty side, and I’m sure it’s because of the gummint shutdown. We’ve not only got the Navy bases hereabouts, but we’re a bedroom community for DC. And that’s all I’m going to say about the shutdown. Dammit.
Just finished a salad. I will shortly join FCD in the shop and be his faithful assistant as he builds the teak swim platform. So much for working in my garden today…
