Guns n' Roses at Madison Square Garden

Damn skippy. :frowning:

G n’ R will be at MSG on Dec 5 - tix go on sale on Saturday.

I’ve never seen 'em live.

Shoud I go???

I saw them there in 1991, and it was a great show.

I’d go again if I could, even if its just Axl left.

Yes Blur, you should go! TOTALLY! They’re going to be here in DC at the MCI Center on the 9th… hubby and I are anxiously awaiting the announcement of ticket sales. I still kick myself for missing the '91 tour… and I hear the Chinese Democracy tour is great. Doing a lot of old stuff from Appetite.

Egggggcellent.

I hope Axl doesn’t pull his prima donna act - I am so there!

I hope Axl doesn’t pull his groin; that Davy Jones dance is tough on the hamstrings.

In other news, Ratt, Dokken, and other non-entities are on tour at state fairs across the nation.

hee hee

How many years has Axl’s voice aged since 1990? 12? 20? 35?

If he can belt out ‘Sweet Child O’ mine’ in MSG - you should go.

Thank the Teamsters. It’s unlikely G&R will wait three or four hours after the last band before presenting their royal selves at midnight or beyond

I wonder how awful Axl’s voice will sound. It died after 3 half songs at the VMAs. Buckethead alone, though, is worth the price of admission.

Yeah, from whatI saw at the VMAs, the band was rockin’ but Axl’s woice just brought everything to a screeching halt. (I realize that’s a pun, but shit, he used to screech pretty damn well. IMO now, he sounds like a dying seagull.)

But if there’s reason to think his voice has gotten better, do it!

Worldeater, jjtm,

I think it’s fair to say that Axl was pretty damn nervous about the reception that he thought G N’ R would get, plus he spent a lot of time running all over the stage, and he apparently was having serious problems with his ear monitors, as he was constantly dicking with them during Guns performance.

Having seen Guns twice in concert, I can say that Axl didn’t sound any worse at the VMA’s then he did back in 1992.

Cut him a little slack guys.

LolaCocaCola, buy your tickets now! I saw the Guns in London last month and it was the best damned concert I’d ever seen! It was just utterly brilliant. In fact, I was considering flying over to New York to see them again, until I realised the financial foolishness of such a plan.
But for Christ’s sake, go! Trust me, they’re as good as they ever were, new band notwithstanding.

Yeah, even though Axl’s voice may not be up to par, I would kick myself if I didn’t experience G n’ R live at least once during my lifetime.

:: sets alarm for 8:45am tomorrow - gets speed dial ready ::

I think it’s fair to say that nerves shouldn’t be a problem for someone with his experience. Does he not run around the stage at every show? As far as the monitor thing, well that’s the oldest trick in the book–blame the sound guy. Yeah, right.

And if I read your last sentence correctly, what you’re telling us is he sucked in 1992 as well.

It’ll be fun to see how long it takes this version of GNR to self destruct.

Bring back Slash!

Say what you will but I saw them in Vegas and they put on one of the best live show’s I’ve ever seen! Axl’s voice is still great and it doesn’t crack, and all of the other guys are really talented! you’ve got to see it to believe it!

I’d go and check it out… I am thinking about flying out to the east coast to see them also in fact!

YAY!

I got my tix!!!

I am GOING!!!

So, are you going to tell me that Tony Bennett is unprofessional or some crap like that simply because he gets nervous before every show?

And gee, Surprise!!! you read my last sentence incorrectly, Axl sounded all well and fine back in '92.

Seems like you have some “issues” with/about Axl that keep interfere with you judgement of his musical/vocal abilities.

At least he didn’t throw a hissy fit and walk off stage like Fiona Apple did when her sound system f’ed up a few years back.

Of course, Fiona, being the charmer  that she is reacted as usual, screaming to reporters and the assembled crowd, “You’d better not fuck me over, or you’ll pay!!”

Very professional.

I also have tickets, but for the Boston show on 12/2. Can’t wait. I saw Slash live 2 years ago, and it was incredible, and now I get to see the second half of one of the greatest bands of the last 20 years.
