That’s the point. Even frumpy/nerdy actors are actually very attractive in real life. BBT is only “wish fulfillment” because some of the very pretty people in its cast are pretending not to be very pretty people.

I actually find it interesting that people think Bernadette is traditionally attractive. Sure, Rauch is attractive when she puts in the effort, but Bernadette is not attractive to me at all. I actually was surprised when I saw picture of Rauch looking sexy as all get out.
And, no, publicity shots where they Photoshop glam up everyone don’t count.
The producers certainly understand hotness enought to put the hottest front and center. As to the OP question, the pic makes her look so frumpy that it’s really impossible to tell how attractive she might be. Of course, they’re all WAY too young for me, so no I wouldn’t date her. If the one in the center was really insistent, maybe I would reconsider.

Anyway, Bernadette is sort of a girl-next-door type in a lot of ways- very attractive, but not “hot”, at least not how she’s portrayed on the show, which was originally as a somewhat naive, slightly sheltered scientist (originally typed “scientits”, heh), and now as a successful corporate scientist and replacement for Howard’s mom. Penny, on the other hand, is presented as HOT! IRL, they’re both “hot”, and the real difference in-show is how they’re characterized and the wardrobe they wear.
I wouldn’t be surprised if in 20 years, the argument is “Penny or Bernadette?” instead of “Ginger or Mary Ann?”

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (Penny) is the generically pretty TV blonde. Whether she’s front & center as the star or just eye candy in the background, there is nothing that stands her apart from hundreds of other attractive blondes that fill the airwaves.
Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) is another pretty blonde, maybe marginally prettier than Kaley Cuoco BUT too damn short, so it evens out.
Mayim Bialik (Amy) - there’s nothing wrong with her, but then again there’s nothing right either. Not attractive, not unattractive, not sexy, not unsexy.
As for their characters on BBT, I don’t think I would get along with any of them outside of possibly a ‘work-friend’ relationship, and even that might be strained. But this is all just one man’s opinion. That man being me, it means it is the right opinion, but still, it is just an opinion. 
I’m just talking about the ads and banners that are associated with the page you linked.
Eye of the beholder, and all that, but I think Rauch looks better on the show than in most of the non-show pictures I’ve seen. In particular, I find that Maxim’s (as silenus suggested) photographers have an almost supernatural ability to take attractive women and strip them of any appeal; it’s an aesthetic I refer to as “aggressively vacuous”.

Q: When Johnny Galecki was on Blossom, he smooched with Mayim Bialik. When he was on Roseanne and later on TBBT, he smooched with Sara Gilbert. And later, on TBBT, he smooched with Kaley Cuoco. What I’m wondering is why he hasn’t smooched Melissa Rauch and how does Melissa feel about this rejection?
