Guy's Fun Room Decor. Suggestions?

When I bought my home, I agreed that my wife could do all the decorating. My only stipulation was that the unfinished basement was mine to do with as I pleased. After on and off construction over the past 3 years, my project is nearly complete. I’m now down to decor.

Here are the givens:

Life sized stuffed former Senator from Minnesota Rudy Boschwitz
Snow Shoes (I actually use these, but it’s a handy place to hang them when not in use)
Motion Sensor fish (mine is far superior to the wretched Billy Bass)
Wild West Arcade game

Here’s the not-yet-haves

Dogs playing cards wall hanging (I’m trying to find a mid-sized one, they are either too big or too small)

Any suggestions? Glaring oversites?

I have a 2YO, so the gun rack and the sex toys have been ruled out.

I forgot the bathroom! I have a plastic Nixon Head shower head and a 2 foot tall butler that holds the toilet paper.

For an arcade game the kind that were built as tables would be perfect. You know where you looked down on the screen and could put your drinks on top?

Other things could be:

  • mounted or stuffed animals
  • pool table
  • big TV
  • maybe a game console
  • stereo
  • a nice panoramic poster of a stadium (your alma-mater or favorite pro team)
  • wet bar
  • comfy chairs
  • mini-fridge
  • something related to cars (posters, scale models)

big screen TV? with DirectTV and the Sunday Ticket. That way you don’t have to watch Duante and Randy melt down every week.

I have a similar room, but it is only a spare bedroom, so space is limited. my 47 incher fits nicely though. I have also painted the walls red and navy blue (Houston Texans colors).

I fogot the mini fridge. Frank #2 is dead on with that. I have one and it is key.

I ended up making the bathroom too big, so the pool table is out, the tub was a request that I readily accepted (when the wife wants a 2 person jacuzzi, the wife gets a 2 person jacuzzi)

Mini fridge is on the shopping list. How could I have spaced that? 32 inch tv with PS2 is currently down there, but I certainly am considering a bigger screen.

Themed paint is genious! I did a couple of the walls with tongue and groove knotty pine, but two of the big walls are just painted green.

model cars gave me a good idea, I’ll go one step further and get a pair of remote control cars. on the shopping list!

I enjoy being tormented by the Vikes, but thats about it for sports. I’m looking for twisted, strange, and bizzarre.

How about making your own arcade cabinet? You could even set up a “MAME” cabinet (assuming you have the rights to all the games by owning the original boards, of course.)

The chairs should be naugahyde - that way, when you engage in some manly farting, it reverberates properly.

That is why you have the can of air spray, right?

I’ve got a similar room and both there and outside on my porch post I’ve got one indespensable item… a mounted bottle opener.

The one inside has the Jax beer logo on it and the one outside advertises Coke. They’re both antiques and add a lot of character.

I don’t know why but it’s kinda cool to be able to walk by and just casually pop a top off into the waiting trash can below.
