Guys: How Did You Manage to NOT Get the Multiple Obvious Clues that She Liked You?

I’m looking through old e-mails for anything subtle I might have missed. Nothing so far.

When my wife and I were still at the “not sure what kind of relationship this is” stage, she apparently went out one day and bought this goofy looking little frog with a big sign that said “KISS ME”. She left it in her bathroom when I came over one night. Apparently, I was supposed to realize that this meant I should kiss her. How I was supposed to intuit that this wasn’t just one more random girly knick-knack in her bathroom, but rather a message intended specifically for me, I have no idea. She told me about it years later.

Long before I was married, I went clothes shopping with a female friend (shopping for clothes for ME, that is). When I paid for everything, I thought the checker was being flirty, but I wasn’t sure. So, on the way back to the car, I asked my friend, “Could you tell, was she flirting with me?” She answered, “YES, it was DISGUSTING!” So, apparently, flirting has to reach “disgusting” proportions before I even become dimly aware that it’s happening.

Last i knew, “I’m not interested” didn’t come with tounge, but this IS a thread about confusion, so YMMV. Then again, maybe i’m just old.

“move on to the next girl” usually results in the same, or similar. That or i’ll see signals, ask em out, and they seem to assume I’M joking and not serious, then cease the amusment nd decline when they realize i am. Honestly don’t see why i bother trying anymore.

There’s one I still kick myself over a tiny bit because it would have been really interesting.
And how I missed the signals were that I was young and inexperienced.

I met the girl at this party. She was a little bit older (I was 17 and she was probably 20 or 21) and we actually hit it off. We pal-ed around the party together bonding over the awkward overt mating dance that was occuring between her friend and my friend. We sat very close together on the couch. When the party was breaking up, she asked for a ride home. Another friend took my friend home. We talked in the car for a moment then she got out and went to her door and waited for a minute- now I know that she was waiting for me to turn the car off and go inside. I saw her the next weekend at another party and she was stone cold. I missed my chance.
