Guys: What pocket do you put your wallet in?

I carry mine in my left front pants pocket. I spent over half an hour the other day looking for my wallet because I had decided to see if wearing it my back pocket was as uncomfortable as I remembered, and then forgot I had done so.

Left handed, and I don’t want to sit on my wallet, so my vote seems obvious.

Left rear, for as long as I can remember. I’m right-handed.

Left rear pants pocket because that’s the one that has the (supposedly) pickpocket-discouraging button.

Left or right rear, whichever has a button to close it. No button or button on both sides, then right side.

My husband wears his in the right rear pocket, sideways.

Wallet in the left front coat pocket; keys in the right.

Right now I do not carry a wallet, since I have no bank accounts. I keep my DL and one credit card in my right front pocket along with my chapstick and a couple of folded kleenex (swiss knife and 2 tums in 5th pocket of jeans or right front pocket of non-jeans) and my folding cash in my left front pocket.

Back when I had a wallet/checkbook, it went in the left inside pocket of my coat if wearing one, my left rear pocket if not wearing one, or in one of my front pockets if I was going to be in a public place with lots of people. Which pocket depending entirely on how often I thought I would be pulling it out and how much cash I had on me. If I was carrying a bit of cash, I’d the wallet in the front right pocket because I wouldn’t have to pull it out to get at the cash or worry about cash falling out as I pulled out the wallet.

When wearing a jacket or coat, left breast inside pocket. Otherwise (and most often), right rear pants pocket. As a kid, I carried it in my front pocket, but was made fun of by some girls in 5th or 6th grade over it. Amazing how little things like that can cause big changes in habit.

I’m glad the time has passed on dress pants which have only one rear pocket, inevitably on the left side… I’ve had to wear those in the past and being forced to carry/sit a wallet on the side that I’m not accustomed to is very uncomfortable.

Never understood the argument that right-hand = left rear pocket for wallets; I’d prefer to pull out and manipulate the wallet with my dominant hand, thus the right rear pocket or left breast pocket; it’s not a big deal to switch the wallet to the left hand later if I want to manipulate cards or cash with the right hand as well.

Wallet in left rear, handkerchief in right rear, keys in left front, change and knife in right front. Done it that way for as long as I can remember.

I’m left-handed and I mostly wear cargo pants - my wallet goes in the left thigh pocket . If I’ve got jeans on, I’ll put it in the left rear pocket, but I constantly keep checking for it to make sure it hasn’t disappeared. During the winter, I’ll sometimes put it inside my coat, in a pocket on the right. I hate sitting on my wallet at all.

The way I carry my wallet actually dictates the way I like my pants cut. Oh, sure, in colder weather I can put it in a coat pocket, but in the summer hereabouts even a light jacket is a bit much. I don’t like sitting on my wallet (because I have various odd things in there, like bandaids & old cards I’ve not cleaned out yet, & it’s a bit thick). So it goes in a front pocket. So I want pants pockets that don’t hang too loosely, so I tend to wear pants that are tighter on the upper thigh &/or crotch & have pockets that don’t hang open & lose things when I’m sitting down.

Actually, except for the weird clutteredness of my wallet, this applies to keys & cellphone as well.

Right front. Nothing goes into my back pockets, except poop bags when I’m walking the dog, and maybe a list. My wallet is way too fat to go in the back. Also in my right front is my Swiss Army knife, on the left is my credit card case, keys, and tissues.

Right handed. As in Cecil’s article, this is actually the most ergonomic for a righty since you need your more dextrous hand free to rifle through the contents.

Right front, and has ever since I can remember. I put nothing significant in my rear pockets; I can’t sit comfortably otherwise. Also, for many years I’ve heard that pickpockets have an easier time with wallets in the rear. I don’t know if that’s true, but I’ve been to pickpocket-prone places and never gotten picked.

I’m a girl. I carry my wallet in my right rear pocket, my cell phone in my left rear pocket, and my keys and change in my right front pocket.

I tend to go with either front pocket. I have my keys attached to it, so I don’t have the problem of needing to get it out while I’m sitting.

Yeah, it’s dorky, but, before I did that, I was always losing my keys.

ETA: In pickpocket areas, I’ve been known to put it on a lanyard and hang it under my shirt. And I will always put it in a breast coat pocket of a suit coat. I will not in regular jacket, since I normally take those off.

But then again, I’m left-handed.

Left front. Never kept it anywhere else; never understood people who kept their wallet in their back pocket. Seems like an invitation to trouble.

I used to keep it in my left rear pocket until I got one of these. Now I keep it in my left front pocket.
