Used to be left rear, but my wallet started getting fat (not George Costanza fat, but bad enough) so I switched to left front. I’ve slimmed down my wallet since then, but I still use left front. I don’t have a cell phone, though – if I did, I’d probably put that in my left front pocket instead. Keys and change go in the right front pocket, of course (right-handed).
I’ve been pickpocketed before, I won’t keep it in my jeans pockets. Most of the year, I wear a leather coat with excellent inside pockets, I keep it in the inner left pocket.
…when it’s too hot to wear the coat, I’ll put it in the front left pocket of my jeans, when I have to carry a wallet. I try to carry just my oyster (underground) card, and some money, when I can help it. It’s thinner, less likely to go missing. More comfortable, too.
Back pocket really does seem to be asking for trouble.
THIS.
Pickpocket will be hard pressed to get it from the front pocket by my strongest hand.

Now I know my next wallet! Thanks!
right front (pocket)
right rear
My own.
Always good to hear from the marsupials.
You think I’m going to tell you, Mr Fagin?!
I put my wallet directly down my pants. I can’t stand things cramped in pockets.
It’s safer and much more comfortable.
In addition - especially if you have a nicer wallet, it looks much nicer just to see the top of the wallet sticking out the top of your trousers rather than a giant bulge.
And finally, it doesn’t ruin the fabric, and you can’t forget it and put it through the wash!
I’ve never understood why guys jam the things in their pockets when you can just tuck it under your belt!
Wallet in left rear. Keys in left front. Cell Phone in right front.
Nothing in right rear.
In a spirit of inquiry, I tried this out on my way to my one class today. Maybe I just wear my pants cut tighter than you do, but it was incredibly uncomfortable. Also, when I gave up and tried to surreptitiously remove it from my waistband, I found that to be very difficult as well. I agree that it would be almost impossible to actually wash it that way, though.
I’m right-handed, so wallet in left rear ever since childhood.
I first saw the idea that right-handedness “means” that the wallet should be in the left rear pocket on an old TV episode of Dennis the Menace, as a kid. The episode was in black & white. Mr. Wilson got his right hand stuck in a mailbox, and a thief came by and stole his wallet - from the left rear pocket!
Wow! No closing date on the poll made me think it was new.
I carry my paper money in my pants pocket, but the wallet with cards and such goes in my shirt pocket. That was not a specific choice.
Left front.
As I understand it, this is a handy way to tell pickpockets exactly where you keep your wallet. That said, I have the habit as well.
Right-handed and right rear pocket here. Having anything in my left rear pocket feels weird. However, I rarely carry cash and try to keep my wallet as slim as possible.
It’s a zombie but left rear pocket (I’m left handed). I keep my rather large smartphone in my left front pocket, change in my right front and wear my keys on a beltloop with a carabiner.
I keep my wallet in my right inside jacket pocket if I’ve got one, though a left interior pocket will do. If I’m not wearing a coat or jacket with an interior pocket, it’s in the right rear pants pocket.
I used to carry right rear. Then I developed piriformis syndrome or “wallet sciatica”. I have since moved to a much smaller “money clip” type wallet and keep it in my left front pocket along with my phone. Right front has keys, pocket knife, Carmex, comb and change.
