She’s attractive enough, but certainly not #1 in the top 100. Heck, I’m not sure I’d put her in the top 100. I do think long hair is sexy, so that is a plus. But I guess I agree with the OP.
I was watching the tube with my sister once not too long ago and asked her why McDonalds was using two drag queens to sell burgers. She informed me that they were the Williams sisters.
I recall reading an interesting assertion that Anna is so popular because she fulfills all of the desires mentioned above (i.e. strong, fit, blonde, symmetrical, proportional, attractive, athletic, extroverted) in addition to one major quality:
She’s a good athlete, but she’s not too good. She doesn’t threaten the observer’s masculinity a la Gabby Reese, les soeurs Williams, or even Mia Hamm by being too good at her chosen game and too indulgent in her hard-won physical power. In fact, as she continues to prove her mediocrity in the world of womens tennis, her popularity surges unabated.
Now, I don’t know if I agree with this, and I can’t recall where I read it, but it’s an interesting addition to the discussion.
I think Serena is incredibly hot, much hotter than Anna K., and Venus ain’t too bad either.
Ack!
By definition, can I be a misogynist?
I’m a CHICK!
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she’s a tennis player. Men dig chicks in short skirts and tight shirts, running around on a court flashing their panties. Call 'em crazy.
And it’s just something to do with the fact that she’s doing things other than…posing. She’s strong and graceful, and near the top of her profession (and yes, I know she’s not ranked that high, but anyone who’s successful on the pro tennis tour and constantly get into the biggest tournaments and do reasonably well in them is by definition almost at the top of their game). So it’s kind of like women in uniforms. And, she’s blonde, which makes her stand out, and an almost perfect physical specimen.
Geez, I sound kind of creepy.
I get annoyed when people say that she’s a poor tennis player. Last I heard she was like 50th or something like that. That’s pretty good. And if being a model is more fulfilling than playing tennis at a higher ranking, then more power to her!
sidle, I was just joshing. Sorry about that. As to your question…I can’t think of a funny reply.
