Just lost a good friend to H1N1 this afternoon. He had his vaccine, but his immune system was weakened by recent cancer treatments and it got him anyway - just completely trashed his lungs. Dammit just saw him a little while ago at a mutual friend’s wedding and we were all so happy that he seemed to have beaten back the cancer.
I am so sorry for you, MrsCake.
I lost my sister yesterday. This whole thing has been surreal. She left behind beautiful twin five year old daughters. I can’t believe that I typed those words about my family. Such a tragedy.

Apparently in CA the flu has killed almost 10x as many people under 65 this year as last. It’s been a miserable season.

I’m so very sorry for you both. I know two people with confirmed H1N1 right now, one a child, and it’s just nerve-wracking.

I’m so sorry to hear that, hajario and Mrs. Cake. Taken by a flu seems so unreal - you’re supposed to just feel miserable for a week and then it’s over. 
Darn it, I’m terribly sorry to hear that Hajario, my brother also had a run in with that but luckily he did not need to go to the hospital, but his doctor almost had him in; brother lost weeks of work but he is getting better. We have been lucky over here.

Hajario and Mrs. Cake - I’m so sorry for your losses. My thoughts are with you.
I lost my brother to complications of the flu last week - double pneumonia led to needing a ventilator, then dialysis, and then to cascading failures of other organs. He was 53.
He did not get a flu shot this year.
Empathy and condolences to Cold Dish, Hajario and Mrs. Cake, and to your families…there really are no words.
