I also don’t see what is quite so offensive about the truck. (The gay marriage one, not the abortion one.) The truck makes a simple and effective message: Voting democrat increases the likelyhood that gay marriage will be legalized. Since most Americans are against gay marriage, this will hurt democrats. I don’t know how effective such a campaign will be. I doubt it will make much difference, due to the fact that most people have thier mind made up at this point.
In any case, I don’t see what’s so offensive and outragous about it that would incite people to throw rocks at it. Although it would still be wrong, I would at least understand if people throw rocks at a truck proclaiming that “all fags must die” or some similar nonsense.

Well, I’m offended by the idea that a picture that innocuous is supposed to be offensive, I guess. It’s as if PETA had a truck with a picture of a blind person with a leader dog, with the caption “STOP ANIMAL SLAVERY NOW!” It’s FAR from the most vitriolic propaganda they’ve put on display, and yet it’s supposed to be “disgusting” enough to sway people’s opinions to their way of thinking. I wouldn’t throw rocks, but my reaction would be, “Is that really the worst you can do? You gotta be fucking kidding me.” And yet, they’re parading it around 20’ high on the side of a truck like it’s supposed to strike some major blow to the SSM movement. It’s insultingly mild.

Well, if you don’t see what’s so offensive about it, you haven’t been paying attention to the thread.
First, it says that same-sex marriage is a Democrats vs. Republicans issue. That’s just more of the pointless, polarizing bullshit that’s been going on all around this election. Democrats aren’t the “gay party,” and I would hope that Republicans aren’t honor-bound to vote against gay rights.
Second, it takes a fairly mundane picture of two attractive people kissing, and it blows it up, drives it around, and points to it as something that should be opposed. It manipulates people’s fear and revulsion at homosexuality to say that something as simple as two men kissing is absolutely repulsive. This is what you’re afraid of. This is what you’re voting against. No one wants this to happen in a proper America.
It really is a “truth” truck, because it exposes opponents to same-sex marriage as exactly what they are: liars, hypocrites, cowards, and bigots. As stpauler points out, they try on their website to claim that they’re not against homosexuals, just homosexuals calling their relationships a marriage. No, they’re not going to say they’re against homosexuality, because then people could call them names like “bigot” or “homophobe” and intrude on their right to speak their mind!
So they hide behind the claim that there are legitimate complaints against same-sex marriage – we’ll have to legalize beastiality and pedophilia, we’ll be able to sue churches for speaking out against homosexuality or not performing same-sex marriage services. The site even says that the increased paperwork is a valid argument against SSM.
The truck exposes the campaign for what it is, and shows what their opposition is. They’re disgusted at the idea of two men (or two women) kissing. They’re repulsed by homosexuality, and will do whatever they can to show their condemnation of it, at the expense of other people’s rights. All the while claiming that that’s not what they’re doing, that they’re simply defending themselves, or they simply have a different opinion on a complex issue.
It’s fucking disgusting, and cowardly. I’m frankly sick to death of all the pussies trying to dance around the issue and make themselves sound good. Anyone has a problem with the person I am and the person I love, stop hiding and come out and fucking tell me directly. Call me a faggot. Tell me I’m going to hell. Just don’t insult me by saying that you’re not opposed to me and then voting to keep me down.

Fraid so, sorry. I mean, you saw Kerry and Edwards together during the campaign. They were two grown men hugging and touching each other! Obviously so queer. And Kerry came right out and said it: he’s opposed to same-sex marriage personally, but feels that it should be left to individual states to decide. What a total fag! He might as well have blown a guy while he was saying it.
Obviously, only queers and queer-lovers could possibly vote in favor of same-sex marriage (or, in other words, vote Democrat).
