I was recently reading through the Straight Dope archives and I came across a May 1996 subject on HAARP. This interested me because I just recently got finished reading a Tom Clancy book, that had to deal with HAARP. Now I know that the book was fictional and that this book I read took place a little bit into the future, but I was interested becausein this book it proposed the idea of mind control by using low frequency waves somewhere in the area of 7.5 to 13.5hz. They said in order to do this though one would need extremely tall antenas or anteai I dont know which is right for plural, but instead of using this massive antenas you could use smaller antena and use the ionosphere a sort of one large antena to pin point anywhere around the globe to use this mind control on. And in this book it also said that this was fairly old technology and would actually be quite and easy task to embark on. I was just wondering does this book have any truth to it? Could HAARP be used for mind control if used in the manner described? Thanx alot.
Why do you think you posted this message? Do you really think it was your own idea? Didn’t you feel a strange, inexplicable compulsion to post it? Have you ever considered lining your hat with aluminum foil?
A propagating electromagnetic field is generated whenever a varying current flows along a conductor. In the study of this application, an active ionospheric research facility such as HAARP transmits a fundamental signal using a frequency chosen to deposit energy into the layer carrying the electrojet currents. Under typical ionospheric conditions, this frequency would be near the lower end of the facility’s 2.8 - 10 MHz operating range
DA23 you refer to your frequencies in Hz. You didn’t put a K or an M in front of 'em.
If your note is accurate then you’re putzing around the resonant frequency of concrete.
Tom Clancy may have been correct in describing this technology as “fairly old”, but just because something has been around for a while doesn’t mean that it works the way people would like it to work. Freon refrigeration has been around for a while, but you can’t use it to chill out an overactive toddler so he doesn’t ruin your big dinner party.
Who here actually trusts the government with a reverse antenna system that can superheat the ioneshpere? I mean really all that could happen would be the loss of our natural filters from the suns radiation. Its not like the government has exploded nuclear devices 750 miles above earths surface just to test it’s affect on radio transmissions- July 7, 1959.
Well I can tell you that if this thing is supposed to be controlling minds, I wish they’d point it at some of the local residents. There’s quite a group of foil hat wearers in the interior of Alaska, near where the HAARP project is (I drive through there every so often - but I drive through really fast. They are also thoroughly convinced that the UN is armed and headed their way to assimilate them.
Good refs, DDG. DopeAddict, you might want to read a book by Dr. Nick Begich “Angels Don’t Play This haarp: Advances in Tesla Technology”. IIRC, Dr. Nick has his own special theories about HAARP.
