@#$%& Hackers! @#$%&!! Hotmail!

I STILL cannot get into Hotmail! Why do people DO this?

What REALLY pisses me off is Mr. Rilch, who doesn’t seem to understand why I’m fed up. I KNOW I’m not the only one who can’t get into Hotmail. I KNOW it’s not Hotmail, or their setup or anything like that. I KNOW the world won’t come to an end if I can’t send a message. I KNOW there’s such a thing as Juno. But I can’t stomach the gross unfairness that I (and, I know, millions of others) can’t send a SIMPLE FUCKING EMAIL because some clown (or two or three; I’m not sure of the status of this case*) did the cyber equivalent of egging houses.

What I don’t understand is why people like those Filipino hackers do this. They’re not going to get money from it. They’re not going to get business opportunities. They’re sure as heck not going to get any love. Do they just hate everyone in the world?

:::can’t even select Email Notification:::

*The sooner the perpetrator(s) are in a tub of lemon juice with paper cuts on every inch of skin, the happier I’ll be. Please note that, contrary to what Mr. Rilch accuses me of, I do NOT want anyone to die. I merely want them not to know a pleasant moment for a long LONG time.

I have a hotmail account too. I have no problems getting into it, and have not had any problems. I have been in and out of my hotmail account several times over the past few days, today included.

What problems are you having?

I get a message that my account is “temporarily unavailable”. I’ve been getting that since Saturday, and assumed it had to do with the Love Bug.

You mean it IS me? Arrrrghhhh!

I’m not sure why you are getting that message, but I assure you that I am currently using my hotmail account with no problems. With this new MB software I have recieved wayyyy too many replies to threads in my inbox, but the mail account is working fine.

I could not get into my ISP mail account once last week due to the virus problem, but as soon as they had loaded the backup to the server, all was well.

This virus is a valuable warning to all who deal with servers. Back up often!

But, I digress…

Tech support answer: You can’t access your email? No problema- send us an email about it & we’ll get right on it.

Real life answer:
I’ve had no trouble with my hotty mail account either. Try accessing it from another machine (and not on a WAN) to see if your machine is to blame (dunno why it would be).

Sign up for Yahoo! mail or go to mail.com and get one of the designer email address they offer; it’s always wise to have a backup email account in the event of an actual emergency.

I wasn’t able to log into MSMessenger yesterday… Is this why? Jeez…

Yer pal,

I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
One month, 19 hours, 49 minutes and 13 seconds.
1233 cigarettes not smoked, saving $154.13.
Life saved: 4 days, 6 hours, 45 minutes.

You will get this message if your account has been deactivated. Your account might be administratively down in error or somebody might have a complaint against you. For instance, they may have reported you to abuse@hotmail.com and said that you:

  1. are a spammer
  2. are trafficking child pornography
  3. are illegally soliciting other hotmail users
  4. enjoy pro wrestling

Hotmail temporarily disables your account while it checks out these baseless (?) allegations.

To report an outage with your hotmail service, call 650-964-7200, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Pacific time Mon-Fri.

“It rains on the good and the bad.”
“But why us in-betweens?”

Rilchiam, I had the same problem - couldn’t get into Hotmail for a couple of days. Wrote them little notes and got little notes back - temporary difficulty, I think was what they said. I figured they had been hacked. It was very annoying. I keep copies of the best from the newsgroups there and thought it might be all lost, it wasn’t.

Thank you. The message does say it’s not just me. I’ll call that #. Thanx again.

Hotmail has ALWAYS been too slow for me.

I hated to go over there.
Then Microsoft instituted a short-leash policy that made it hard to keep the file going if you didn’t log in over a short period, something like 2 months, if I remember.
I mostly use Outlook to keep messages at home.
I just used Hotmail for mailing from other places, like the library or campus, so I gave it up for another web-based service.

The difference in speed was astounding.
I would never use Hotmail again.

Allright Rilch, what did you do?

Now I am having your same problem with my Hotmail account. What gives?
