I had a buddy who lived on the same block as Susan Sarandon in NY in the late 80’s. They weren’t really friends, but she knew him enough to say ‘hi’ when passing on the street. He also said that she was incredibly beautiful and had an inner glow to her skin even without makeup, unlike many actresses. (He’d lived in Hollywood for several years and had met many who were common looking without their makeup artist)
An ex of mine wound up dating and living with a drummer for a popular punk/alternative bands of the late 90’s. She told me how she had to keep turning down passes from members of other bands at parties. They were so used to groupies who would ‘do anyone’ that they didn’t know how to deal with her rejection. The only one she was tempted to take up on his offer (when things were already falling apart with the guy she was with because she discovered he’d been doing his groupies) was a guy who seemed like a hunk and made a public offer to her at a party… so she said “Sure, as long as you’re not one of those singers who sounds like he’s imitating satan deep throating a dildo.” … At which point he glared at her and turned away and most of the people at the party ignored her after that. Someone else filled her in that he was indeed the lead singer for the top alternative group and his singing was exactly like she described. … She broke up with the drummer and got out of the punk/alternative scene shortly after that.
I don’t know if this counts.
I once dated a guy who was a professor of astronomy at a famous tech college in southern California. In later years, I’d see him on television shows like “Scientific American” explaining new theories in astronomy. I saw him more than once, on different shows, so I guess he has been appointed some kind of media spokesman.
