Sorry if this has already been covered, but what if we are the only ones to bid on an item? Is there a minimum price that it defaults to?
I hadn’t thought of that, but by extension, the ‘second highest bid’ is 0, so that plus five points would be a maximum of 5 you would pay.
My bids are in.
Can we re-bid on cards that aren’t taken?
No, no rebids. My ruling on unbid items will be final

Oh, how bout if we tell you that we’ll pay for any leftover letters (5 points each). That’s not really bidding, that’s more like offering to pre-pay for any leftovers.
Are you thinking that no one put in a minimal bid for each and every letter?
I didn’t, but I thought about it…I’m sure someone did, though.
Well it only makes sense right? Everyone that’s still active knows rule 1, so why not try to get a bargain?
Morning all. Everybody’s bids seem to be in, so I’ll post the auction results as soon as I can work them out.
AUCTION RESULTS:
Doctor Who picked up a C card for 15 points, also an E card at 26 points, also an F card for 15 points, and an H card for 26 points. Total bill: 82 points
Dragoness is the high bidder for the V card, at 28 points
Hal Briston won the bid for an F card at 10 points, an H card at 13 points, a K card at 10 points, and a P card for 18 points. He got rule slip 12 for a mere 6 points, apparently completing his mastery of ALL Haggle rules - now, how well can he use that info? Hal’s bill is 57 points.
nesta was something of a big spender - she got all 3 A cards at 26, 26, and 23 points… a B card and a D card for 20 points each, an E card for 31 points, the Q and the R for 21 points each, and 30 points for the U. She also bought herself rules 3 and 8 for 11 points each. Total IOU from nesta - 240 points.
Priceguy just picked up rule slip 19, for 6 points.
Uncommon Sense got most of his wins in the bargain rules bin - he got slips 1, 9, 13, 17, and 18 - 17 cost him 6 poins, and the others were for 5. Total bill: 26 points.
and poor USCDiver might have had some reason to be nervous of the silent auction format - because he got outbid on everything he tried for. I’m sorry - but at least you don’t have a bill to pay!
So, we’re now nearly two weeks in, with a little bit over one week before the trade deadline. From a pool of 12 players we have ended up shrinking to a field of seven determined hagglers, with NAF still enthusiastically riding the corporation’s coattails. Three players have been probated in various ways, and two have sold out early. Hopefully, we won’t have to go through this bit with inactive players again!
I’ll go through updating my DB, see what rules need to be PMed out from the auction, and then post an update consisting of just you seven active people.
Okay, a little housekeeping. First off, there’s been a bit of a database mixup - if you look back on page 10, you’ll see that the updates in 485 and 498 don’t match - I guess I forgot to update the work db with percypercy’s probate, and then punched in a rule change at work, and copied that DB back home over top of the probated one.
So - I’ve re-entered percypercy’s probate, (since I had to to get the auction sales to come out right,) and the last activity before that was a USCDiver trade that seems to have come out right, but please CHECK your standings in this update and verify that there isn’t anything else that I’ve missed.
Oh, and speaking of missing things - Looks like MadTheSwine’s three S cards got left off of the silent auction yesterday. How about I hold an informal open auction for them today, lasting until whenever I get internet access tomorrow?
That’s about all I can think of for now - oh, Uncommon Sense got the high bid on rule 17 in the auction, but he already held rule 17, so I’m actually keeping that copy of the rule with billyb0b, where it will now be out of play. (Just because the DB can’t handle one person holding more than one copy of a rule.) He paid 6 points to keep it out of the hands of the other bidders, essentially.

That works for me…I’d be happy to open the bidding on one of them at 4 points.
Given the amount of points I already owe, I couldn’t really bid high for anything else. Oh well. I’ll bid 3 points for an S.
Doctor Who, would you care to trade your U card?
US offer 11A; Nesta, you have an A that I’d like in turn for me allowing you to see rule 2.
Oh, and Crisk, not to muddle things up but here is the quote from My PM to you on which slips I was bidding on;
I didn’t bid on slip 1, 13 or 17, each of which I seem to be credited with buying?
If you took no limit to mean “no limit on all slips” than that’s fine. I really meant that I’d be willing to own all six that I bid on. My fault for not wording that precisely.
US bid on a letter S; 16 points.
Er…
raises my hand timidly
chrisk? I swapped my U for a P, with USCDiver. It happened in post 475. It looks like I now won’t get the set I was going for anyway, but still…
Pretty please? Thanks.
Okay guys… Here’s the deal. I want an A and an L quite badly. I am willing to give away some combination of two Bs, a D, and an X, and of course any rules you’d like to see. Any bites for some of that?
First off, let’s clear the decks: Rescind all open Hal Offers.
Now then…
Hal Offer #15 for Dragoness: I’ll trade you an L Card in exchange for an X Card.
Oh boy. I think I noticed the list of rules, but didn’t actually clue in that that wasn’t every rule that was up for auction. :smack:
Well, since you already had the info on those rule slips, I think it can be fixed. I’ll take 16 points off your IOU, rule slips 1 and 13 will be burned, and rule slip 17 now passes to USCDiver, the true high bidder, for a price of 5 points. He finally won something!
I’ll wait a little while for any objections to this plan before locking it in and PMing the rule content.
Dragoness, thanks for the tip, I’ve logged in both of those trades from post 475, including the rule showing one with Doctor Who
Good think I had the morning off of work today!
Good thing… sheesh, I can’t even spell properly! Or catch my typo in the edit window.
