Hair follicles and Sutures Question

Last week I managed to get a severe laceration above my eye and through my eyebrow.

I went to the urgent care folks and they cleaned it up and put in eleven stitches, which were removed today.

Here’s the question:

When they stitched me up they appear to have trapped some follicles into the sutured area. So now these are no longer on the skins surface and free to push out hairs.

What happens? Do they “know” this and no longer function? Or will they be trying to push hairs through the lower levels of the dermis?

Not really worried, but curious. I’m sure it happens with other sutured areas, like for my hip surgury, but those hairs are so fine I never thought about it.

Considering how razor bumps form, I expect they’ll try to push the hair through the overlying skin.

I have more than my share of scars. The ones on my scalp and beardline are hair-free. So I guess you could say my hair follicles “know” and don’t try to function.
