Hair tinsel placement

So I just bought some hair tinsel with a look toward adding it to my repertoire of party offerings. I want to put some in my hair. The problem is, I don’t have a part in my hair, and all the demos I’ve seen seem focused on putting it along a part. I have very long hair that is just very long hair, no specific style. If I leave it alone, it parts in the center, which I dislike so I try not to let it dry that way. So where do I put the tinsel for me and those like me? I was thinking at my temples, but I don’t know how to do that without the knots showing. Help?

Could you post a link to a photo of your hair, or a style like yours? If you have very long hair with no part, I assume it hangs down, which means it hangs from a central point on your head. That spot is where I would affix the tinsel.

The question is more suited to IMHO rather than General Questions. Moved.

HennaDancer, if you’re still playing with hair tinsel, I’d suggest putting some on thoseteeny tiny barrettesor even bobby pins, and just play with it to see what you like. Without a permanent part, you’re really going to have to rely on the movement of the hair to make your tinsel visible, and it won’t always be visible as your hair falls around it.

I like to put mine about a finger’s length from the top of my head - where the skull starts going down, instead of out. That seems to be the best place for my hair, in terms of keeping the knots/barrettes covered but the extensions/tinsel visible.

Once you’ve gotten it placed, then you can consider tying it in - but to be honest, I wouldn’t. Tied, glued or keratined hair extensions are super cool looking, but they wreak havoc with your hair’s health. I miss my blue extensions, but I prefer not having breaking hair!
