I was talking to a friend the other day. He had just seen “40 Year Old Virgin” and said that he laughed his head off despite the language and coarse humor (he usually does not go for that kind of thing!). He commented on the “chest hair removal” scene and was surprised to learn that it was Steve Carell’s real hair. We started talking about the trend toward hairlessness in males that has been going on for a few years now and contrasting it with the 1970s when hairiness was a good thing – for guys, anyway! Steve Carell is pretty hairy (I wish I had coverage like that!). What other actors are at least as hairy, or hairier? We thought of a few: Chuck Norris, Tom Selleck, Burt Reynolds, Sam Elliott, and Robin Williams. There was also a very hairy guy in the Ben Stiller/Jennifer Aniston movie “Along Came Polly”, in the basketball scene, but he certainly is not a well-known actor. Does any one care to add to the list?

Robin Williams is very hairy, but does anyone remember Jamie Farr, he played Klinger on MASH? He was the hairiest actor I have ever seen that was not just an extra.

I’ve was right next to Robin Williams at a bike ride (so he was in short sleeves and shorts) and, man, he is one hairy guy…
The Photos are pretty convincing, I am actually remembering Mr. Farr from Battle of the Network Stars. He looked harrier in those than the picture you found indicated. So maybe I am misremembering.

Bob Hoskins, while maybe not quite up to the Robin Williams standard, is pretty hairy. The scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? that the still comes from shows off his ample back hair, too.
