Halal Chicken: You MUST try this.

But he’s dying to try this recipe!
I don’t know if this is a “must try” or just “quite good” but this is good: “Red-Lentil Soup with Sage and Bacon”

Of course, I should probably state from the outset that I am a complete sage slut, so I’m sure that influences my liking of it.

ETA: I did find it needed salt and pepper at serving.

Your’e not going to get any-body to try it with that straightforward unpretentious name.
Try “Sumerian Tiamat-Festival broth”.

With bacon.

The street cart guys in Astoria always make the chicken with tandoori masala in addition to the spices listed in the recipe.

Yeah. Don’t want him coming back saying how it nearly killed him and ruining this kumbaya moment we’re all having here.

It’s a Martha Stewart recipe. Pretentious is in every bite.

I just want to say that I have been resisting the temptation to respond to posts all over this message board with “NOT HALAL”. Just makes me laugh uncontrollably.

I’m in cooking mode, so I keep finding new recipes. I made these today. I have to eat gluten free, so breadlike substitutes are great for me, and these are easy and surprisingly bready:

Carb Free Cloud Bread

I used the cream cheese rather than the cottage cheese option.

 I used to be on another board where one member unaccountably got angry when folks posted haikus that didn’t follow traditional Japanese rules for Haikus, and would tell them their efforts were “Not haiku!” which meant it became a catch phrase. But “NOT HALAL” works just as well.

Anyway, bumping this to say I made Halal chicken tonight, and it was a giant hit with the whole family, including some rather picky kids, so thanks, Quicksilver! I am full and happy.

That wasn’t nice. English is not Ramira’s first language. I think it isn’t even her second language. In plain Arabic, دجاج بأرز dajāj bi-aruzz just means ‘chicken with rice’.
