Another vote for Natural Selection. It’s an EPIC game with some games taking well over 2 hours to complete. Massive battles of heavy armored marines verses rampgaing Fades. Great stuff.
I like the endgame in NS: infantry portals and command chairs destroyed, with one lone marine crawling around in the vents with hordes of evolved aliens trying to find him, and all his dead teamates watching him and cheering him on even though he has no hope whatsoever.
But the absolute best is when the marines have to relocate late in the game, their main base having been taken down by a well-timed assault, and the lone remaining marine having to build infantry portal before the aliens find him. I’ve been in one or two games where the marines actually came back from that sort of disaster, and one where they eventually won after that.
Bumping this to ask a question. (I’m all aquiver about HL2–can’t wait for it to be released.)
I’ve downloaded Steam and can’t get it to work. Here’s what I get when I try to run a game:
Half-Life FileSystem_Steam Error
SteamStartup(0xf,0x13fb74) failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not running
Try reinstalling Steam. In the current beta, there seems to be a problem where you get the wrong version downloaded initially in some cases. Reinstalling seems to fix this for most people.
