Halfway through August in the M.M.P

Touche’. I’ll stick to my paratrooper comment.

What kind of moron wants to leave perfectly good earth to float around for a deployment when he can ride in trucks and go on liberty every night?

Mooooom, when I looked in those big brown eyes in the photo, I saw determination. Those make for an exhausting toddler, but an accomplished woman.

My sister lives in northern Louisiana. She won’t get a direct hit but will probably get deluged even more than swampy. Maybe her mobile home can be converted into an ark. All y’all take care down South.

And eat MREs?

nellie - she is a determined little booger, that’s for sure. I foresee some interesting parent-teacher conferences some day.

Supper was good, and it’s all cleaned up. Daughter and family are downstairs for pre-bedtime chillage. We’ve been talking about what we have to do in these next few weeks. I don’t think I’ll be able to relax till October. But I shall attempt to chill this evening.

Fence guy came by, he will be starting tomorrow.
Poured rain just as he got here, now the sun is shining.

My neighbor sent me a text asking me to come out back. He had a chocolate/vanilla cheese cake for me.
I’m usually not to crazy about cheese cake, but this one is good.

Connor had jumped up on my desk right before I spilled it. It’s his fault.

Making poke chps, baked N.O.T.s, and roasted squash and tomatoes for dinner. Waiting for hockey to start.

I know a guy who said he weaseled out of a promotion, because it would have required him to get out of the truck on a regular basis. Amittedly, he was stationed at Minot AFB in North Dakota, so he had a point.

Never had the pleasure, I’m afraid. The chow hall wasn’t exactly Sardis, of course.

Talked to both my chilluns, so I’m happy. My back is better. I did some yoga stretches. I have bed linens in the washer. Now I’m going to water my balcony plants. Then I think I’ll sit out there and enjoy a cocktail of some sort.

Had a nice outing to our city Sunken Gardens and koi pond, after fine dining drive thru at Chez McDs. The preteen grumbled a bit at having to be seen with grownups but she seemed to like the butterflies, fish and French fries.

Trying to see if I can figure out how to send pics.

I’m the one with the blue shirt. The ones with the scales are the fish.

{{{cat}}} Back in the day, my department was charged with inventorying the dongles used in our facility (I work in inventory management for a tech outfit) When I had to give the summary of the dongle report, the snerks were audible among a bunch of corporate managers. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got the Sunday chores done and made supper (zucchini quiche and broccoli salad for those taking notes). Twas good. KP is done and once I wake up the sleeping dog on my lap, I’ll play around in the studio for a while.

That reminds me, I finally found a source for locally-themed postcards and bought a bunch. Discovered I’m down to one last lonely lil’ ol’ postcard stamp … so that’s been utilized, and imma visit the P.O. tomorrow to drop that one off & buy more stamps.

A friend in his mid-30s is on vacation, and I asked him to send me a postcard, telling him, “It’s what we old people do!” (I just turned 40 and his youngster ass has been teasing me.)

I also sent HIM a postcard, just to prove me point.

Now, on to the evening’s daily dilemma: what the $&@! do I want for dinner?
I’m kinda leaning towards sushi (delicious and healthy, but won’t keep me filled up) but also sorta want chicken wings (nobody’s idea of healthy, but delicious and filling so I don’t wake up hungry in the wee hours).

Checking the old wallet to see if I can indulge in my favorite way to decide between two equally nice options: BOTH.

Hi!

I’m tired. It was a stressful weekend. Avoided the bottle, but had too many cookies.

Will reach the age of my life expectancy in a few weeks. It’s just statistics but it’s sad nonetheless.
It’ll be a milestone birthday I guess. Or maybe if/when I reach 37, that’ll be a milestone, because I outlived the statistics. I dunno. Too tired to think.

I should probably try to go to sleep.

Storm has moved further south but we still expect some rain and wind and since it’s king tide right now we were told not to go to irk until Wed which is OK with me.

Hubby is still an invalid with his back. We shall see a Dr or hospital tomorrow one way or another. I shall call an ambulance if I have to. I don’t see him being able to get down the 15 stairs. He has never had back trouble before. Certainly not like this. I just hope it’s not too serious but it sure looks that way.

Today did not seem like Sunday at all to me. I guess since all the days run together. Stay safe everyone.

We’re mostly moved out of the office, which means there’s a lot of stuff in the living room despite donating and giving away much of the furniture. I walked 10 km today while lifting/hauling/pushing. Time for a bath.
