I had no idea about the subscription thing. That really floored me but it sure beats the hell out of ads. My forum at link removed by TubaDiva is much faster than this. Feel free to join.

Frist, I wasn’t advertising my URL. I was merely pointing out the fact that my forum was a lot faster than the SDMB one. As a new user I noticed that. That’s a fact. My bad I should’ve merely said that without typing my URL.
Second. I had good intentions of taking it off, but I see you have already taken the liberty to do so already.
Finally, I have intentions of reading your lengty TOS as I have a busy schedule.
Again my apologies for posting a URL on your boards. I didn’t realise that was such a cardinal sin.

We get more than our share of people who come to the site merely to tout their own products/services, etc., and a whole lot of spam artists who see this site as just another place to dump their load. We remove such posts wholesale and ban the offending guest.
Key word there is “offending,” as we find that sort of thing deeply offensive.
However, I gave you the benefit of the doubt here and assumed that you knew nothing of our our rules of conduct . . . and that, if given another opportunity, you would do better.
There’s URLs of all kind all over the board, posted for all sorts of reasons. They’re okay. We remove the ones that aren’t.
Please also note that only moderators and administrators can edit or remove posts.
Look at it this way: Would you go to the corner bar, look around, announce loudly, “Gee, the service in here is slow; my bar around the corner is much faster,” and then expect the barkeep to treat you as a buddy? Would you then expect the patrons to consider you a good mate?
The Dope can be a cool place; there’s some really great people here and we manage to learn a thing or two and have some fun while we’re at it. I do tend to take someone that comes in with gripes right off the bat to be someone who is 1) misguided or 2) looking for trouble. I try to steer the 1)s in the right direction; I also have a course of action for those that are filed under 2).

Again, my deepest apology for posting a URL. Not just any URL…I realise it was a forum URL and yes fear of forum wars do start.
Given the ammount of traffic SDMB generates to its boards. I highly doubt the folks from this board are going to flock to my board that has a mere 2 users. I doubt you need to fear that happening… Then again this is the web, stranger things have happened. Maddox’s shady page supposedly gets a million hits a day. I would post the addy but my hands are already sore form the grilling I have received in my first post here.

Not only have I riled up the admin, but I have wet some appetites. Something I seldom do. Although I do like Pork Chops myself.
In answer to your metaphor of going to a bar and shouting “hey the service is better round the corner.” No I probably wouldn’t YELL that out in the bar. Using the bar metaphor doesn’t really work with online or asynchronous communication. In rhetoric, once it’s said, it’s said. On the board you were able to take the liberty of my URL posting away from me. In a bar I would get kicked out, but the word would have still been heard, and processed by the many customers.
Thanks for letting me stay on the board as a member. Wheater I fork over $14 for membership is another story.
I take back what I said, at $14.95 per year for subscribing to your board, others like myself posting their forum URLS do pose a threat to your board. $14.95 (you’re kidding me to share my stories you want me to pay that much for a year) .
Why is my URL not blocked under my personal URL (under my profile) and it had to be removed when i posted it directly on the board?

It didn’t have to be removed. As TubaDiva mentioned, there are URLs posted all over the board, some to other message boards. That unto itself isn’t necessarily a problem.
This is the key part of her response to you.
Given that we don’t really know you yet, we clearly don’t know your motivations for posting what appeared to be a complaint about the speed of this message board followed by a link to another message board. Seeing your subsequent posts, it appears that your motivations are pure.
Please don’t take it personal. It was simply a pre-emptive strike to destroy suspected weapons of mass destruction. Oh wait… wrong thread… 
Thanks for the clarification! I guess I just found it odd that a strict board such as this one wouldn’t allow my forum to be posted on a message but as a personal webpage.
Also is there a policy on strong language. I have taken a liking to the BBQ pit. Granted this is a board with controverial issues. Is it entirely necessary that folks use strong language?
Don’t humans resolve problems with spoken words, and isn’t swearing a sign of lack of vocabulary?

No it’s not necessary. But you’re not alone in this belief. Dopers will often throw in a gratuitous “fuck” just because it is the Pit.
Some here believe that their creative swearing is a sign of an advanced vocabulary. I have to confess to often being impressed with the Doper creativity in this matter.
