Halloween Dinner

Tomorrow I am having a couple of friends over and making the traditional Halloween dinner. She is a witch, but doesn’t cook, so I make the meal. All according to recipes full of symbolism and also with purpose. We eat :

Rye Bread with Dill Dip for Peace And Prosperity
Crab Stuffed Mushrooms for Protection From Negative Energy
White Fish in white wine sauce for Reduction of Psychic Visibility
Black Cat Wine (What else would one have with fish on Halloween?)
Clearsight Carrots for Better Vision
Noodles Allemande to Increase the Rational and Promote Balance
Apple Pie to Celebrate The Harvest And Plenty

I may make a French silk pie as well. I wonder what that can stand for. Anyone have any ideas? It is full of butter, eggs, and chocolate. I know this sounds pretty silly to a bunch of you, but really, it is no more silly than other traditional holiday meals, especially ones with religious meaning. It makes for a nice dinner, if it is a bit solemn. We take time to remember anyone we knew who died in the last year, lighting a candle for them if we would invite them back for a visit.

What about having ghoulash followed by booberry pie?

Sorry, couldn’t resist!

The French Silk pie is full of rich ingredients. What about having it symbolize the richness of your friendship?

I like Green Bean’s idea.

Not sure what else it could symbolize but the butter and eggs symbolizes (to me at least) new life and fertility (butter is made from milk which nourishes new life, eggs create new life…)

Gee, we always had just waffles for halloween dinner. Mom knew we’d be stuffing ourselves with candy all night, and figured why bother? with anything better.

Green Bean’s idea does suit me. Fertility/new life is not really compatible with this holiday, but I don’t think that anyone is likely to reject a French silk pie.

I’d stay away from the rack of lamb flambe.

Well, there is a lot of symbolism for chocolate that could apply but frankly, I really don’t think anyone needs a reason for chocolate.
