Halo: Reach

That’s all I have to do to play CTF?
/s

I am asking for the steps Inside Reach. I’ve had Live for nearly a year now.
Dr. Halsey was the original creator of the SPARTAN-II program as well. She was responsible for finding and kidnapping the six-year old children that made up the original class, of which Master Chief was a part.

Jorge, the big guy with the chain gun, calls her “ma’am” but with his accent it comes out sounding like “mom.” I think this is intentionally dubious - the SPARTAN-IIs view Dr. Halsey as a mother figure in many ways, but are not actually related to her.

Jorge is a SPARTAN-II just like Master Chief, but the other members of Noble team are SPARTAN-IIIs - the next generation of SPARTAN soldiers who weren’t given the same great modifications as the II’s. Most III’s wear crappier armor, but Noble team has been given MJOLNIR armor just like the II’s for gameplay reasons (there’s a story reason too, but I can’t recall it). Halsey didn’t even know about the SPARTAN-III program in that scene; if you read her journal contained with the collector’s edition game you’ll see where she expresses confusion over who the hell those guys were in her armor. That’s a whole other sub-plot that’s mostly explored in the books and has almost no bearing on the game, but is kinda fun.

Winter Contingency is the emergency code declared when Covenant ground forces step foot on human-inhabited worlds. It supersedes all other emergency directives and calls for the immediate deployment of human forces to counter the invasion on foot, and also gives any SPARTAN solider field command of any unit with which they are directly involved. This is why you as a SPARTAN sometimes can command fireteams of other soldiers, even though some may outrank you - Winter Contingency gives SPARTANs full tactical authority.
Also, Declan -

The nuke you’re thinking of, the one that leveled the city - you’re thinking of the battle of Sigma Octanus IV. MC was not involved in ground operations on Reach until well after the planet was partially glassed. During the actual battle of Reach, MC was…well, that’s a problem. Going by the books, he was involved in a space op to destroy the navigation information stored in a docked pleasure ship. That op went bad, two SPARTANS were killed, and MC made it back to the Pillar of Autumn where they realized the battle was lost and jumped to slipspace. Going by the game, MC was already in cryo on board the Autumn before it ever left the planet. There is a conflict in the canon there. There’s also a bigass conflict where, in the books, the Battle of Reach lasts about two hours, but almost five WEEKS in the game!

As far as the ending goes,

I absolutely loved it. It was perfect. Noble Six turned his back on the last off-planet transport on the entire continent to ensure the delivery of Cortana and the package. Then, he took as many of the bastards with him as he could. It perfectly encompasses the feel of the Halo universe at that point - every single person giving everything they had to buy humanity another precious second of life. Very well done.

Go into the Objective hopper.

Thanks. I figured it out on my own yesterday.

What do you guys think of Headhunter?

Apparently people aren’t smart enough to understand it.

The motion blur is terrible and I dont know why they intentionally included it.

Also is there any way to aim down the barrel of the gun like every other shooter out there?

I finally picked it up last week and I’m splitting my time between sucking at matchmaking and enjoying the campaign at my usual pace.

I’m on the SDMB list but haven’t added new people from the list in a long time.

Splitting your time on Halo?

BS Cookies.

Get off * Netflix* so I can Pwn* you already.

*Seeing as how my HALO experience has been all of [Lets see… Reach came out on the 14th…] 11 days. I think you would school me, Actually.

**Anyone up for making a SDMB guild for Reach? **

Haven’t played it since the beta. I’m not too big on it. It’s okay, I guess, but it’s not what I like.

Add aaa sdmb to your Friends List. Then you’ll be able to see the Doper friends of that friend.

I have. I mean, beyond this, making our service tags [In Game the 4 letter character String]

Well, after playing a little bit with a Doper last night, he mentioned that we should try and get a room of Dopers together for customs or for rolling into Slayer for matchmaking.

Practically no time is good for me, as I get home and online at about 10PM Eastern. How about you guys?

My schedule is too crazy, so I’ll just defer and try to catch whenever it happens.

Nope, bungie is wretchedly behind the times on a lot of mechanics. IMO Halo hasn’t changed very much since the first one, which was basically just a copy of other games out at the time (primarily Tribes/Tribes 2) The game itself is a solid shooter, but it’s nowhere near (IMO) as ground breaking or excellent as a lot of people find it to be. I’m halfway through the campaign now, and I’ll finish it, but I’ve found the vs multiplayer lacking in all the current gen Halo games. Still, as I said, it’s a solid shooter, and there are some genuinely fun moments to be had in the campaign, helped along by some truly awesome music. I’m enjoying myself, that’s all I can really ask out of a game, but no you can’t aim down the sights.
