So who's getting Reach at midnight.

I am.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get tomorrow off as the other support guy for a big piece of software here is off already but I’ll me getting it at 00:00 and playing till about 02:00.
Just looked at the new reviews and they are all very very good. Really looking forward to this.

I got about a year of solid play out of Halo 3 and hope to get the same with Reach. The BETA was great and the full game looks even better.

Campaign first and then disappear into multiplayer.

Wohoo. This geek is excited.

I’m not getting it at midnight, but I did pre-order through Amazon with release-date delivery.

It took me a long time to embrace Halo 3, but then I really got into it. I mostly play in small private games with friends, but am looking forward to some big matches too.

Yeah, I’m picking it up. I’ll be online pretty much constantly tomorrow.

Stayed up till 04:00 playing.

Really liking the campaign. I’m about 1/3 - 1/2 way through. Tight story, great music and action.

Played a few Team Slayer games and did OK. Still have to play a good bit to get back some of my Halo 3 mojo but that will come.

Haven’t looked at Firefight, custom games or forge yet but there’s an awful lot to this game.

Midnight opening was fine. Went to the pub first and then walked in the rain to shop. About 100 or so people were there.
Tired now. Must get coffee

Gamespot Review

If you check the SDMB Gamertag, there’s nobody playing it, at least not yet.

Picked it up at Target this morning. Playing solo campaign, and it’s Big Fun so far, but a bit buggy. I’ve gotten a warthog permanently stuck in misc. scenery a couple of times, and that perennial bug where you park next to a guy, beep to tell him to get in, and he just stands there. I hit that second problem multiple times. Dammit, get in, I need a gunner!

They sort of re-imagined how some existing weapons work, and they feel much more powerful, good kick, good sound. And of course there are new weapons, vehicles. The Covenant have also gotten a workover, and they’re much creepier looking.

Wasn’t able to get the day off today but did pick it up during lunch. Unfortunately I can’t play it until this weekend because my son asked me to wait until he was here. He wants it to be new for both us. Damn the 360 for keeping track of recently played games.

Anybody been taunted online with a reacharound comment yet?

Bump.

I would love to hear if this game is worth the purchase. Metacritic’s reviews are all 100 (I think their integrity has been compromised) and the reviewers vote either 10 or 0 depending on their franchise prejudices.

I haven’t played any of the Halos other than the first one, and that only a few times, but I’m looking for an alternative to MW2.

Do you play online, Sitnam? If so, this is the best online experience you’ll have.

It’s more Halo.

Whether or not that’s a bad thing depends on your opinion of the previous games; they didn’t change much of the formula. It is, of course, very well done.

Try picking up Halo 3 at the dicsount bin - it’s only about a year old IIRC and should give you a feel for the gameplay.

My wife wants us to play this one (we used to play Halo 3 back in the day). Can you play multiplayer online in split screen?

If you have two Xbox Live Gold accounts, yes. You can also have the second person sign in as a guest and play social gametypes.

I’m loving the game I have to say.

Finished the campaign and am now working through it again on heroic. I’m a bit unsure about some elements of the ending You pick up Cortana in the underground base. I take it that Cortana was just the AI for that base and has uploaded the info from the base into her program. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me as there are other AI’s on ships that look like Cortana so there’s nothing particularly alien about her AI.
Liked the fight to the death after the credits. Gave the ending an appropriate sad ending

Loving the new maps. Have to spend a bit of time this weekend finding my way around them but so far so good.

The multiplayer maps are pretty solid. Ivory Tower and Ascension aren’t giving me the same fun they once did, although Sanctuary is a very welcome regurgitation. Zealot is really nifty, except that roof gets to be a hassle. I think my favorite new map is the one in the launch silo.
