So it is a day off for me. It is snowing outside and as an semi-intelligent homo-sapien, I am reluctant to step outside as it is warm and comfy here, next to my laptop and space-heater.
Color me spoiled.
I have not left the SDMB and MPSIMS since 11:32 this morning.
I really need to hang some pictures, put a new lock-set in the door, plan supper, make a few phone calls, talk to the cat, laundry, etc. etc.
I have a feeling that is not going to happen today.
I feel lazy and you guys are too entertaining.
I made it to Home Depot to buy six bags of mulch. Then it started raining, and hasn’t stopped since. I have until Thursday to get it on the ground, I guess…
During the long nights when I’m the only one up in the house, I’ll sometimes open my contacts popup window on here and just watch the comings and goings of some of my favorite posters (the ones I’ve actually bothered to add to my friends list on here, which is what shows up on the contacts pop up) while I do other things (like watch movies or read). Since that list has about 300 posters on it and is slowly growing all the time, there’s always many people off and on, even in the middle of the night.
It’s sort of like if you had a chat applet (like YIM or AIM or MSN Messenger) open and could see your friends online and who was currently signing in or out, etc.
Oddly comforting, sometimes.
I’m prone to anxiety attacks lately, and just knowing there are people currently online, whom I like, helps.
Don’t forget to mention that, with your SDMB Moderator Powers, you can see through members’ computer screens right into their houses. Whether the computer is on or not.
When I was an SDMB Moderator, I had a long list of posters that I would always watch while they were showering.
My one and only accomplishment today: I put plastic shrink film on one window. Yep one down and 9 to go. Oh and while I was heating it to shrink I got too close and melted a perfect round hole in the plastic:smack:
I usually avoid MPSIMS. Too much misery, sickness, and death affecting people I seem to remember I like. Makes it hard to pretend you’re all imaginary.
A day late and no snow but --------- there are worse places to hang out at on the web. I believe we’ve had a couple threads naming some of those places.
Install a screen reader on your machine (or simply enable it if it’s already there – I think all Windows system have come with this for a long time – My Win XP machine has it), and enable it. Have it read entire threads out loud to you while you go about your household chores.
