Hannity calls hotline; girl gets fired for taking his call

Is this fair? The girl did a fine job. Probably had no clue who Hannity was. Then she gets fired. Seriously? Obamacare operator fired after Hannity radio call; Hannity to give her a year’s salary | The Daily Caller

I don’t see a recording or transcript of the original call at your link, so I have no way of knowing whether she did a fine job or not.

Yeah, that’s an idiotic article. Did the woman talk smack about how terrible ObamaCare is? Did she agree with Hannity that Obama is a socialist Muslim antichrist? Did she tell him that her employers were a bunch of fuckups? Did she deliberately violate a company policy against talking with the media? Or did she treat him in a professional, polite manner?

Hannity was an absolute ass to this woman, and with his follow up ‘interview’. What did he think would happen to a woman in a 25K job that was basically tricked into trying to make her employer look stupid?

I agree with your argument that this country needs strong worker’s rights laws to prevent this sort of thing happening in the future.

It’s a shame she wasn’t in a union.

Some people are so lucky!!

Absolute ass? You betcha. He’s going to pay her a year’s salary out of his own pocket and help her find another job. Real ass, there.

Why aren’t you complaining about the asses that fired her in the first place?

Goodness griefus. Is he going to pay her health insurance premiums too?

I’d say it’s pretty hard to believe they fired her over this, but I’ve worked in too many call centers to be surprised by it. They probably nailed her for speaking “for the company” in a public realm without authorization from their PR/marketing department. I know from years of experience that most reps do not have the power to say no or hang up when asked stupid, leading, and/or entrapping questions.

Do you picture Sarah winking at you when you say that?

Is there any chance that this was a setup?

“Ms Davis? I work for Sean Hannity and he’d like for you to appear on his show this week.”
“Sean Hannity? He’s got a lot of nerve. I just lost my job because of that bastard and now he wants me to help him? Tell him to go get fucked.”
“Mr Hannity feels really bad about you being fired and he wanted me to mention he’s promising you a year’s salary.”
“A year’s salary? I see. Suddenly I’m reflecting that this is all Obama’s fault.”
“Glad to hear it. I’ll put you down for Tuesday.”

If I tried to get information from a person like that on the phone, it would, like, kill me to have to, like, hear her talking for more than like a minute, so, like, maybe her finding another line of work is, like, a blessing, you know?

He promised her a year’s salary? How about his yearly salary? He could gather hers out of the change in his sofa. And is he going to deliver that right after he fulfills his promise to be waterboarded to prove its humane?

On a mobile device. Do I have to listen to something? Is there any actual information about what the fuck happened because right now I’m completely lost as to what actually happened.

This is standard call center stuff, especially government call center. If I take a call from the media when I’m working the switchboard at my job, and I answer any question from an acknowledged media source that isn’t “What’s the number for the department’s Press Officer?”, I’m subject to discipline, up to and including termination. I CANNOT speak for the department or the state. Period. I’m not authorized. The second she knew she was on the line with Hannity’s producer, she should have given him the number for the ACA press officer and hung up. That’s the standard. And I speak as a union member (AFSCME). This isn’t an abuse, this is the standard, and for good reason.

Two bits says they kept calling until they found somebody who fell for it.

Call centers have, like, scripts. And you’re like, a dickhead for um, blaming the victim, you know?

Worse than that, they victimized the lowest level functionary they could find, and when she was fired, offered to make a public spectacle of her as a demonstration of Sean Hannity’s humanity and compassion. Dick cheese has more humanity and compassion than Sean Hannity even knows exists.

You’ll need to lower your bet to get any takers .

FWIW, I think what happened to her was horrible but if she found out she was talking to a member of the press she should have immediately turned him over to the media department or, at the very least, her supervisor.
